Burnout Paradise DLC

I thought I would start a thread on the DLC that will be coming, if the mods think this is better in an existing thread by all means move it.

Any way what is known so far is a new Island will be opening up, it's off the bridge from Angus wharf, which currently in the game is partially complete you can see it on top of the Angus wharf car park, this will be the first of many islands that will be added at later stages all of which have different gameplay elements although what they are hasn't been said yet.

A new car called the dust Storm, Which is a dune buggy type of car not far removed from those you see on Motorstorm, looks pretty good although i'm guessing it's going to be a bugger to control.

A new custom paint job for the Rossolini Tempesta and also just announced and shown yesterday a new custom paint job for the Concept GT.

You can see vids for all of this on the Burnout website link below, stay tuned for more stuff as and when it's announced.

Not yet, they did say they will post on the website when the DLC has been sent to Sony , then it's up to Sony to test and then put up on the Store.

Yeah i think the islands were always going to be free other wise you couldn't do some new challenges ( if they have them) or anything else new if everyone didn't have the entire map to go to, the cars and other stuff like Paint jobs ec would more likely need paying for.

Re: Burnout Paradise DLC

I personally can't wait for the extra islands and map area's to be released, and I've not even completed the current game yet.

One of my favorite things was driving round discovering new area's and shortcuts etc, but now I've been all over the current map, I feel I need to investigate some new locations

Yeah same here, I still have one or two jumps to find, i'm tempted to find a guide or something but I like to find things for myself so i'll give it a bit longer.

Re: Burnout Paradise DLC

Well i just finished listening to the latest burnout Paradise podcast and they answered some questions some of which relates to DLC and the 1.2 ( plus future) Updates that i thought were interesting.

first up is Custom soundtracks for the PS3, they are going to add this option when Sony release an update for the devkits to give them more memory in game to play around with which will be soon, it wont be in time for the 1.2 update but it will be in the next one after that, how long will it be for that one i don't know but at least it's coming.

Another thing mentioned was an award for doing all the challenges, they didn't have one because they thought that many wouldn't bother doing it all and the plan was just for 2 sets, but they have noticed via online stats etc that many do indeed do all of them plus they have had numerous requests, so they are planning an award of some kind when the DLC comes but didn't say what that will be or if we would have to do them all again to get it.

Update 1.2 is done it just needs to be tested then submitted to Sony.

they did say that DLC will be here in a couple of months didn't give a actual date or anything they just said they have been testing the new DLC and we will be surprised by what we will get( in a good way) when it's released in a couple of months.

that's about it for now.

Re: Burnout Paradise DLC

Some news on update 1.2, estimated arrival date is 24th April provided Sony and Microsoft don't delay in adding it to Live and PSN, Currently going through QA. still no word on an actual date for the DLC but i would guess not long after the update. they also said they will be discussing in the next podcast what will be in the 1.3 Update, so i'll post that when it's revealed.

Re: Burnout Paradise DLC

Some BIG News in regards to Burnout Paradise, the latest Podcast talked about a new update 1.3 which is not only a patch but also a big Game update, it doesn't have a release date yet no surprise since 1.2 isn't out yet but any way some big changes are going to be made plus added stuff, here's what has been said so far.

1. New free burn challenges will be added no number just yet they are working that out, new to it however is they will be timed, ie players get a number of billboards in set amount of time. ( sounds pretty good to me)

2. New free burn game modes, these are stunt run, marked man and road rage

3. changes to ranked races , no custom races you can only pick from the ones criterion have created, traffic will always be on for them and they are only 1 round rather than up to 5 which you can currently do, reasons are to stop the cheating that some players do by picking insane routes or changing the route just before the race starts so you have no idea where your going.

even more stuff is planned and will be announced at later dates.. plus all this will be free, I cant wait for this it's just what the game needs

Re: Burnout Paradise DLC

Well when that update hits I might seriously start trying ranked races again. I got sick of those annoying cheats with the insane races that only they had memorised. It will be interesting to see how quickly the top 10 changes when the new rules happen, I know for a fact at least one of them in the top 10 is an horrendous cheat....

Same here I stop during the Easter Race weekend comp they had running because a few were cheating, the new format for the races will be very welcome.

I guess it makes it more challenging, i don't like traffic on either but i guess it can help even the race out for those with slower cars, it's kind of hard to catch the F1 or fast race type cars when you can burnout chain easily when there's no traffic to get in the way.

more news for update 1.3, 1080i support will be added for those that have TV's that don't support 720p using the old disable 720p trick, i was hoping it would be 1080 native for all but alas no.

True, it would make things better for new people that want to go online straight away

Re: Burnout Paradise DLC

Hi all here's the latest news, it's in regards to update 1.3 which is the one after 1.2 which you know is due on April 24th, no date for it yet but here's what is released so far.

A new option will be added called "easy drive" which is where the new freeburn modes will be added as well as access to PS3 custom soundtracks.

some details of the new modes has been released.

Freeburn Stuntrun:

This is 8-player simultaneous online Stunt Run – everyone competes for the highest score within the 2 minute time limit and you can play anywhere in Paradise City.
• An on-screen display shows all player scores, so you can easily see how you're doing.
• Earn multipliers for taking each other out but you lose your combo score, if you're taken down.
• Eliminated players are greyed out of the scoring area but can exact brutal revenge by chasing after players that have managed to keep their combos alive beyond the time-out.
• For the first time, you can drive alongside someone as they complete a billion score in Stunt Run - you can absolutely use this mode to try and show off to your friends.

Freeburn Road rage

This is an 8-player online team event.
• At the start, everyone chooses their team (red or blue).
• One team of "runners" has to drive to a checkpoint then the finish – they can only see one checkpoint ahead.
• The other team has to take them down. These guys can see the checkpoint and finish and choose whether to wait and ambush in key locations, shortcut to the action if they get left behind or just follow the pack and cause chaos.

Freeburn Marked man

We randomly choose a "Marked Man".
• There's an intense few moments, while all players wait for the selection to be made – you want to stay close to other players, so you can hit the Marked Man, as soon as he's selected but far enough away that that you can run like hell if it's you that's the Marked Man.
• The target is selected and a 90 second timer starts – you get 1 point if you survive and 1 point if you take down the Marked Man. After 90 seconds a new Marked Man is selected at random.
• If you're the Marked Man, you can't see the attacking players on the map, your car is a little slower and you don't get boost.
• The session usually consists of around 10-12 minutes of intense gameplay depending on the number of players involved.

That's it so far they say they are going to add new modes etc at later dates, i have to say it's sounding damn good.

Sounds good but we were doing a number of those challenges ourselves as we got bored with the usual online play

Re: Burnout Paradise DLC

OK guys some HUGE news in regards to Burnout, I have just finished watching the criterion video podcast, it was their first one and they showed off in real time the new updates both 1.3 and a small part of 1.4

So here's what they showed and said about each update

Update 1.3

A date of end June has been given, this is the update that contains the new free-burn modes, The game has a new logo as well as title screen and title music which shows a new car that comes with the update which doesn't use boost. when you login your greeted with a live feed screen which shows news, your stats plus stats for other players and other bits n pieces, a calender which shows when Criterion will be hosting events, these events are held over a month or so in which at the end you graduate, if you take part and complete all the events for that month you could get a one off never to be released again car just for you as well as other awards based on how well you do in the events.

70 new Challenges has been added these are multi part and against the clock, You can mute players as well as yourself, The audio in the game has a new mix making it sound better than it is already, the Police vehicles now have sirens, and one change is the airfield which has been redesigned to make the challenges of jumping through the hoops easier to pull off, it's more flat and not as many hangers to get in the way ( not sure if this is a good or bad thing yet ) , some new paint jobs have been added that's it for 1.3

update 1.4

OK this contains some big news, it's due end of July early August it will be the first pack that you will have to pay for, no price has been stated yet, but they did show a small part of what it contains, ok brace yourselves, Motorbikes yep that's right bikes, complete with riders, bikes will feature their own game modes, challenges and even some new locations tailored to fit their unique performance and handing characteristics not only that you can ride them in the new night time mode, now what was even more amazing than the announcement of bikes was what they showed next, this may or may not be coming they haven't decided yet but they could be bringing wait for it.... Aeroplanes they showed a bi plane flying around the city in which they flew into billboards etc, as i say they dint know if it will ever come to the game it's just something they are playing around with at the moment but imagine burnout with planes, doing challenges etc like with the bikes.. anyway that's it for 1.4 so far.

For those wondering about the new island it's due in the update after 1.4 so we are looking at maybe end September - October if the current update schedule is anything to go by, all in all some great things happening in the burnout world, I dont know about you guys but i can't wait for this new stuff.

couldn't agree more, the bikes looked like they handle pretty well with some good animation on the rider you can see him change gears and apply breaks etc, the only things is you don't see your rider go flying down the street when you crash but i think they may put that in if they think people want it. the night time mode looked great also with good lighting effects.
