Had about 2 hours on this myself. As a single player game I cant see me getting bored of it quickly, as its so much fun just driving around discovering things. I have only done 2 challenges out of 120 and I was playing for 2 hours!

Things look good, and the online side of things seems excellent, especially the racing.

In the emails I have got there has been no mention of the exclusive car. I'm not sure if the info on how to get is supposed to be sent by email or will come with the game. I may have to contact customer services regarding it.

Is there even suppposed to be an exclusive car if you preorder with GAME ? There is no mention of it on their site that I can see.

K, i think it said you will get a email with a code in and then you will have to enter the code in the game to unlock the car.

That's good news, shame there's no capability for custom soundtracks though. Looks like being the 360 version for me

Re: Burnout Paradise - Preview Thread

Woo hoo. My copy of Burnout Paradise arrived a day early for me Its got to be one of the most addictive little (big !) games I have played in ages. My bro got his today as well, so we've been having a rare time of it. Favourite game, apart from just taking each other for takedowns is ............

......Hide and Seek !!!!!

Dunno how, but my bro keeps finding secret little places that are virtually impossible to get at.....great fun though.

Re: Burnout Paradise - Preview Thread

Just had a couple of rounds online with Adails, on the whole good fun, but i tihnk the lack of any real structure to races like in all previous games lets it down a bit, and essentially just makes it a case of who can remember routes better than other players. But gonna be playin it most of tommorow (will get headset charged and ready) as it's still good fun, but it's not ribena.

I prefer open stuctured games like this and find the old select a race from a menu, fixed map rather dull these days. Basically there is a huge scope for adding extra races in a game like this and surely all races are about how well to know the track/route. I enjoyed Burnout 1 & 2, but after that I felt that they became rather stale and I actually preferred the 1st two games to Takedown & Revenge. This version has injected some originality to the series, whilst keeping the whole Burnout feel and I find it much more enjoyable (only played the demo as Game have just shipped mine today) than the previous two games.

I honestly don't understand why custom soundtracks is such a big deal to people. I can honestly say that I have NEVER used the function at all on either my original Xbox, or the 360. I genuinely want to hear the in-game music or soundtrack (genuinely well crafted in-game music seems to be somewhat of a rarity these days, with everyone just slapping on the latest tunes. Which is why you can NEVER have too much MGS )

Re: Burnout Paradise - Preview Thread

Had a few hours on this last night and must admit if I didn't have to get up for work I'd still be playing now

I spent most of the time just driving around enjoying the scenery and going for the odd billboard or super jump here and there.

Graphically the game is stunning to look at, the amount of detail in the scenery is amazing and it certainly flies along at breakneck speed, and all with zero load times.

This is the ultimate Burnout as far as I'm concerned, not had enough time on it yet but from what little time I've had makes me want to go back for more.

Re: Burnout Paradise - Preview Thread

I can quite happily stick my own soundtrack on to a racing game actually. I like to think of it as my car stereo. Plus I'm into loads of bizarre stuff like minimal techno and whatever, so highly unlikey that an ingame soundtrack can cater to my needs! Would want it for Wipeout HD too, my near on 160GB of electronic noises on my PC would be rather applicable.

Where I wouldn't want custom soundtrack is on FPSs, RPGs, Adventure games... in fact anything else where the score has been crafted to heighten emotional response and tension.

Custom soundtrack for me is a hugely minor factor.

Maybe it's because everyone is different and maybe some people can't stand the original game soundtrack. It's a big enough deal for me to opt to buy it on the 360 rather than than the PS and I honesty don't understnd why someone would question someone else about wanting them

I just got, it's awesome!

Also, I phoned GAME regarding the exclusive car, and the lady seemed to know exactly what I was talking about (which makes a nice change when ringing a company up) and said the download codes are to come shortly by email!

I'm of the same thinking as markmitt, it has never appealed to me to listen to my own music, but then thats probably because I dont own an music...
That said, i fully understand why people listen to their own music instead of the provided music, as long as they listen to it and don't pipe it through their headsets so everyone has to listen to it

Actually I have not had so much of it on PSN, in XBL it seemed like every American kid wanted let everyone know how unbelievably talentless they were at rapping. I don't have too much against the style of music itself, just those that think they can.
