PS3/PSN & Router Connection Issues ! please help

Hi guys,

I need some help as am very confused.

I have been having trouble staying connected, wireless, from my ps3 to router. I am with o2 internet btw. I usualy turn off my router at night or when not in use, just habit but yeh.
When i turn my router on and when all lights are on... i then boot up my ps3, it automamtically connects and i find after about 3 or 4 mins, it disconnects, randomly, i get some error code flash up, one of them was about my ip adress i think (i found this out by matching the ps3 code error on a website i found) anyway, i'll join in a game on call of duty 5: waw and find it's ok but abit laggy, i get server time out and all that rubbish alot of the time but is this down to my connection or just cod?...

The other issue is connecting to a friends games, i cannot seem to connect to a player invite or if i invite them? i just get told 'game no longer avaliable' or 'server timed out' etc...
He says he can connect to other games via invite fine!, how does that work?

The wierd thing is, afew times i have managed with my other friend (2) to get a game going but only sometimes

This is really fustrating me. I have been onto o2 customer support, now the first thing they told was i had noise on my phoneline! they explained what it is and what else do i have on the line and i said my homephone and my skyhd box connected to the line, they said do i have filters on them?i sais yes to my phoneline and not to my skyhd as i dont, , anyway, i hav now disconnected the skyhd from my phoneline.

They told me my line noise has reduced alot so that's good, but hasnt stopped anything connection-wise on the psn front!

Anyone have any idea's?

For what it's worth i have 'UPnP' enabled on my router

First of all have you tried connecting your PS3 to your router via ethernet cable rather than wireless? That should make it obvious whether the problem lies with your wireless network or your internet connection. I used to get loads of errors like that when I used wireless (I had similar connection issues with my PC using wireless) but when I switched over to wired (my PC already had wired but was set to use wireless by default for some reason) they went away completely.

Thanks for the reply.

I have not tried this yet, however i hope too. I know this will be a really dumb question but.. could i just use two routers in my house? 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs? both wired connections?

I have more than 2 phone points btw

You can only have one router connected to the Internet per physical phone line into the house.

you can use multiple routers/switches though and just connect each of them to the router that is connected to the phone line to get internet access through them.
