VidZone is coming soon to PLAYSTATION 3, bringing thousands of streaming music videos to watch whenever you want, completely free of charge.

Imagine a music TV channel that allows you to watch the videos you want,

If they have plenty of tracks the playlist option would work really well, especially if you where having a party, you could just pick loads and let em play.

nope, i'm guessing it's certainly coming soon if SONY are publishing an article about it and even saying about where to download from to where it will show up must mean it's ready to go

All that worries me about is that they don't optimize the actual video for the TV resulting in very low res streaming on large TV Screens

New info on VidZone!

Yep but apparently, SONY have worked on it which allows great picture quality on your TV by working on the way it streams the image.

Anyway, it's free so we can't complain

And also I read somewhere that we'll be able to listen to the music in-game and as far as I'm aware I don't think you can bring up youtube during games (unless you know something we don't know

My utility company will love Sony for increasing the functionality of the PS3 - I have it turned on a hell of a lot these days, & it luuuuuuuuuuuurves those kilowatt hours!

If anyone from Sony is watching then I hope it can be extended one day to include game promos and film trailers too (so we don't have to keep going into the movie theatre on Home), and maybe even a UK version of Pulse.

Just watched the video footage of this and have to say am impressed. Can see this resulting in the PS3 being switched on even more than currently with playlists running in the background when not gaming. Just hope that Sony are able to provide a large catalogue of music vids and update the list more regularly and expansively than the Singstore....

Sony BMG and Sony ME (Columbia, RCA, etc.) own a huge catalogue of music so I'm hoping Vidzone will have access to most of the stuff that's currently on their websites...

I heard rumours of it being this week, although the email I received recently from Sony stated 'Summer 2009'

EDIT: 4th June seems to be a familiar date - Maybe Sony will confirm @ E3 tomorrow.

Yeh, it looks nice. I am hoping (although its probably not going to happen) some kind of Last.fm scrobbling with it, as all my other devices that I use with respect to music I can integrate with Last.fm but not the PS3, which has pretty much stopped me using it for any music playback.

I guess that might not happen seen as MS have got the 360 involved with Last.fm although Sony did do a big deal to give Last.fm content in 2007. Hmmmm.
