2 ps3s & 1 router - lots of issues?

Hi all,

I am tearing my hair out at this network problem.

#1 ps3 connected to router as DMZ
#2 ps3 connected to router with port forwards.

#2 ps3 disconnects every 10 to 15 minutes from the psn and whatever game online.

How can i get round this issue? Has anyone had this problem?

I can't enable UPNP on the router because it will conflict the ports being used by ps3 #1
Because ps3 #2 cannot use the same port or port range of that game or service

for the record and info:

ISP: Virgin Media 50mb
Router: Netgear (same control panel as most models)
2 ps3s - 1 internet connection (1 ip) - 1 router
All wired.

i have set up manual settings via ps3 / auto / etc
still having the issues...

ANY HELP PLEASEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone else got 2 ps3s connected to 1 router and got it runnin' fine?

basically the data for port : xxxx doesnt know what ip to send it to, from the router.
even tho its all set up - its bloody wierd!

example:
sign on ps3 with both ps3s = fine
Internet = fine
Gaming like cod, battlefield and gta etc = #2 ps3 being disconnected all the time.

When i look at the logs i can see ps3 #2 trying to use the same ports.
Upnp does that aswell.

its just the second ps3 playing up... has anyone got any ideas at all?

any help or routers that may work good - or anyone actually got 2 ps3s up and running on a router?

Normal router as in pc etc works fine, just this 2nd ps3 we got.. im lost now tbh.

Re: 2 ps3s & 1 router - lots of issues?

I've have 2 PS3 connected through the same router, and have played on-line with both at the same time without any problems. This includes playing Co-Op Resistance On-line with both PS3s, so what you are trying to do is not impossible.

My setup is not dissimilar to yours, NTL/Virgin Internet, connected to a router (D-LINK DNR-655). I have one PS3 connected by LAN, the other is wireless (although I have wire connected both without a problem). My router has UPNP setup, and both PS3s connect through this.

The first thing to check is that you are not trying to go online with the same PSN account on both PS3s at the same time. This will cause you problems, and result in one of the accounts being kicked out.

Assuming that you are using 2 different PSN accounts, the next thing I would do is to assign each PS3 a static IP address, and ensure that the Port Forwarding is working for just these IP address (don't use ranges).

If this doesn't work, I would then remove all port forwarding from the router, and just use UPNP.

If all of the above fails, I would then try connecting one of the PS3s wirelessly, although I don't think this will work it may be worth a shot!

Best of luck

I've got two wired upto one router too and had no issues with upnp enabled. Only problem I had recently was with Ghostbusters but I think that was a fw issue.
