Note : With my network not secure with WEP or others, it connected fine but I need to protect it.

Hey guys.

Got my ps3 last week and a router (linksys WRTG45G V8). Internet is enables on the PS3 and it dectects my network. I tried WEP and using all 4keys it generated and it didn't work, I always get access point not detected. I tried WPA2 - Personal which I entered my own password but still gives me the same error. I don't use the custom option, I use the easy install since I don't know how to set the stuff in custom. My wireless router is about 8 to 10 feet from my PS3.

#1 : Should I connect to the internet with a RG45 first to download the upgrades from the ps3 (are those done automatically?)

#2 : Will that patch help me connect? Say it doesn't, what can I do and make my ps3 detect the access point? It does detect my wireless network.

*Edit*: Could a 2.4 ghz wireless phone interfere with my 2.4 ghz wirelesss G router? The ps3 detects the network when scan though. It's all confusing.

try again matey but do easy setup then change your i.p address to .2 at the end i.e

192.169.2.1 to 192.169.2.2 or ne other number just not 1

Thanks for the quick answer. Where can I change my i.p adress when I choose easy setup? Didn't notice anywhere I could change it. Or do you mean when I access my router?

Edit : Also, on my network config from the ps3, it still ask me to enter my 'WEP' key before changing any ip which still gives me the same problem as before

my bad wireless connection(manual)>wep or wpa key>ip address manual> if its a linksy the default will be 192.168.1.1 make it 192.168.1.2 then dhcp =do not set>dns automatic>mtu automatic>proxy server do not use>upnp (leave it off for the mo)

I only went in my router and change the ip from .1 to .2 and it worked. Shoud I use WEP or WPA2 TKIP or WPA2 AES??? WEP works now though

you must have a wep key set up on your router either you did it thru your pc/laptop enter that and you should be golden (if you kno what it is that is)

its a password or key youve set up matey

if you dont know it or have forgoten it hard reset the router then redo it with wep and remember the key(do you still have the disk that came with the router).

or if your not that far whack an ethernet cable in ps3 to router

For now I opted for the cable when I'll go online and try to make the wireless work later. Such complication!! argh
