Why the different layouts?

Since home has finally pushed me into getting round to creating that US account I`ve been meaning to do for months, I had a look at their store, and couldn`t believe how much better laid out it was. Easy menus down the left - even with one that says Demos (with - you guessed it - all the demos in it). Anyone have any ideas why the EU store isn`t laid out properly like that, personally I just can`t understand why it has to be so much different (menu headings etc , no Demos heading, vague and difficult to navigate menus etc).
