Re: What the enemy is saying about HOME

Are they the enemy? As a multiplatform gamer does that make me "Teh Enemy"? Surely this is a non-story as any company is going to do what they can get get more profits, i'm sure you can find a PR person who'll slag off anything you want.

In response to that, see this: iTWire - Xbox man slags off PS3, oh the irony

Quote:
All of which added to the irony of reading the words of Aaron Greenberg, group product manager for Xbox 360, when he says that the new Sony PS3 'Home' service "feels like 2005 tech in 2008. I'm not sure that’s what people want."

Hey Aaron, what I want is a games console that works, and my PS3 has always done that since day one despite being one of the first units sold in the UK upon release. It still feels very much like a 2008 device as well, especially when I stuff a Blu-ray movie into it.

This is such a rubbish thread. I hate all this fanboy nonsense. I own both consoles and I love them both.
I dont care about RROD, its happened once to me - so what, I replaced it. PS3 still going strong, brilliant.

I agree. What are MS going to say, "Home is great" or "Home is better than XBL"? Please!! Would Coca Cola say that Pepsi Max was better than Coke Zero? People need to live in the real world (pun intended).

Aaron Greenberg is a

I found it funny how Phil Harrison had to compliment NXE now he's running Atari. Same thing happened when Peter Moore started work for EA Sports and was vocal about the Wii. Greenberg actually has MS tattoo that doesn't wash off, I can't stand him.

Theres a few enemies of Home on here who repeatedly, multiple threads bash it but don't seem to want to leave this area.

Its business and its tough out there. Greenberg may not be liked, but he is not paid to be liked, he is pad to push Xbox and he does that well - the day after Sony released Home (which btw, I think could be a great application), he's getting headlines for MS........job done.

Well you don't get SONY slating every other company do you? Guess that's the difference between a Japanese company and an American one. Sony just carry on, keeping themselves to themselves where as Microsoft always seem to slag off everything any competitor come up with.

You're right, MS aren't going to say it's great, but they also don't have to make any comments what so ever do they? I don't remember SONY gloating when HD-DVD went under, if it was the other way around MS would have never shut up about it!

Reading that back I sound like a right old Fanboy! Maybe I've become one

I'm not trying to defend MS or Sony, I do prefer my PS3 over the 360 easily. However, whilst you may or may be right about Sony not running down MS publicly, they certainly treat their customers with contempt (particularly in Europe). They also dabble in the black arts of spin, so they are not exactly angels. But like I say, its business. Seeing as Sony were the clear leader in the previous generation of consoles, they are there to be shot at.

Yeah, that's fair enough I agree with all that too. It is pretty poo how we get PSN stuff so much later than the US do despite SONY having a bigger install base over here.

Greenberg takes it to levels that reflect badly on the company. His quotes in this round don't effect my inner fanboy. He could of been a bit more creative.

Don't we know it and at times shot at by the majority the industries "journalists". I observed that before I even bought a PS3.

Microsoft would know about outdated tech, considering the 360 has the build quality of a 1960's chinese toaster.

Not just a fanboy, a racist fanboy.

How can you seriously believe what's written in your first paragraph?

Kaz Hirai, the head of SONY US called the 360 "Xbox 1.5" lol. Before 360 launched!

Kuturagi, father of PlayStation: "This time, Microsoft has stated clearly that it is going after the PlayStation. However, they're going not after the PlayStation 3, but the PlayStation 2. They were looking at 2, and that's why [Xbox 360] became like that."

SCEA’s Dave Karraker: "… Microsoft's announced HD games patch is really just a compatibility feature -- upscaling lower-resolution content does not make it Full HD (1080p), something that PS3 can do out of the box." [The 360 can output native 1080p.]

From the same guy: "It's unfortunate that Microsoft's external HD-DVD drive will not enhance the experience at all for the gamer. Sony realizes that to truly take gaming into the next generation requires a larger data format for both games and movies."

Peter Dille, Senior VP of Marketing for PlayStation: "I take issue with Microsoft either having a long tail, or being profitable, because they've never done either. They've never made a dime in this business, number one, and number two, they've never had a tail. They've never been successful enough to have a tail! ... With the Xbox 360 you've got an inconsistent design, some have a hard drive, some don't, and none of them have Blu-Ray, and the HD-DVD will be out of business in a matter of months. Is this a 10 year product? And by the way, it doesn’t even work. Do they want to be selling it for 10 years and refurbishing them all for 10 more years? I don’t think that's a 10 year product."

Two minutes on Google and you'd realise SONY is a business like any other. SONY PlayStation execs will and do talk down Microsoft Xbox products.

I've never been called a racist before, nice one.

All I was pointing out is that the Japanese tend to be more reserved and the Americans more brash, I know it's a sweeping stereotype but I have been around long enough and met enough people from both parts of the world to know that in general this is true.

Fair enough about those statements you've dug up, must admit I'm no expert on business but all I was pointing out was in the past few months whenever I've googled PS3 on Google News, there is always some MS exec slagging off SONY and I personally have never seen the reverse (until now )

This is my in depth and informative view on the situation in relation to American-Japanese corperation comments.

Americans are mainly fat with big teeth and tend to slag everyone off apart from Chuck Norris.

The Japanese are small people who tried to take over the world some 64 years ago but got defeated single handly by Bill Gates!
