what do you think of the Cost of Home items?

Hello

I have managed to get online with Home today, as yesterday was a write off!

Any way I went to set up my club again ( I knew it would be deleted when open beta started) and then I find out it is £3.99 plus a monthly fee from March next year!! the fee price was not disclosed!

can there really be that great a over head for Sony to run clubs? I Appreciate that they have to hold "space" for them on servers but a monthly fee!! come on Sony!

Then there is the cost of clothes/furniture... most things seem to cost 59p, which is about right but you can not really see them from the tiny picture you get! it would be better if the shops had a gallery, where you could see your person in the clothes or see the furniture at full size.

There is a summer house which is £3.99, but again you can not see it before you buy it!

I think Sony are going to shoot themselves in the foot with their pricing if they are not careful!

In these times of people losing there jobs (even Sony employees are not safe! 8000 got the boot last week) Are people really going to pay £3.99 for a room that does nothing? if they kept every thing to 50p then I think that there would be a lot more purchases!

I've just found out the value of being in the closed beta. The summer house was free a couple of weeks ago. As for not having seen it, do you remember in the early days of Sony showing off Home, the flash apartment with the Sony Plasma on the wall? That was in the Summer House. Two fireplaces, twin staircases and a patio with mountain and lake view. Very nice, but not sure I'd have paid £3.99 for it if I had to.

What are you talking about, it's free? If you're a beta tester Feel free to come visit mine and see if you like it.

I can see there will be a lot of these threads, but yes i think it costs too much for virtual items. A small cost maybe, like £0.10 for a virtual sofa, but anything more is madness. Of course you dont have to buy any of this, the rumours are you'll be able to collect free stuff, and if all you're doing is meeting up with mates you need never go into you virtual home, just use the town square or other peoples homes?

Re: what do you think of the Cost of Home items?

A large set of item should be free with optional/one off things being charged at 50p regardless of what it is.

Sony really are going to struggle with the pricing of Home items and LBG items I think - I can see the point in paying for things that add value to a game like extra trakcs/missions/campaigns but paying for decoration is obsurd - More people should follow DICE's lead they did the multiplayer upgrade on Bad Company for gratis!

WELL DONE DICE!

Re: what do you think of the Cost of Home items?

We are being ripped off for items on UK home................clothing items @ 59p each.............US Home, $0.49= 32p.......Japan Home, HK$6.00 = 50p.

What's that all about!!

Re: what do you think of the Cost of Home items?

I'm hoping Sony are just testing this at the moment (maybe just testing out the interface between Home and the PSN store?), Home is still a beta after all. If enough suckers err customers buy clothes, clubs, houses, etc. to make it worth their while then i think it will stay, if everyone boycotts the shops then maybe Sony will reconsider their pricing?

I got the summerhouse for free but I've only been in it a couple of times - no way is that worth 4 quid. I don't think there's anything on Home worth buying at the moment anyway.

I think people are completely mad to spend money on anything to be honest - if you just think about how utterly ridiculous it is to spend 59 pence on a drawing of a cupboard !!!!!!!!!

Re: what do you think of the Cost of Home items?

The more and more I think about it I just wonder why people are actually supporting this guff.

Home's going to go the way of google lively - sony aren't interested in making it better, they're interested in milking as much money as possible from you through the medium of a 'game' that was clearly created by a marketing department and nothing else.

But at least they can turn around and say 'hey it was only a beta'

Re: what do you think of the Cost of Home items?

Sony must live in cuckoo land if they think sensible people are going to buy pictures of furniture etc.
I dont think home will be the cash cow that they hoped it would be.
This is Sony we give you free online play but we will try and milk you with everything else.
I now dont mind paying MS pennys per week to play online with there system.

Re: what do you think of the Cost of Home items?

The prices do seem very high for what you get. I wonder will sony allow people to open shops like they do elsewhere?
Does anyone know what they charge for these sorts of things in say second life?

The pricing in home really does top the Horse Armor for the 360 version of Oblivion. It's that's bad

Re: what do you think of the Cost of Home items?

I almost choked when I first went into the shopping centre - they must be having a laugh(!) - How much??? Do they think PS3 users are mad or something??? It's getting worse and worse on PSN these days with all these small in-game items for sale. At least a game pack (like the Warhawk packs) were kind of worth the money. Buying individual virtual items/clothes is just totally outrageous.

I've consequently decided I won't be buying any clothes or items in Home - the second you start, you will never stop... I would rather not even go there... LOL - Wouldn't you rather buy something real with your cash?

It completely ruins Home for me. Why can't they just make their money selling Advertising space on the billboards instead???

Also - If you buy stuff in a real shop and don't like it you can take it back and get your money back. Will the "shops" in Home do that? Don't they have to by law?

They should make Home really realistic so people can break into shops and steal stuff

Re: what do you think of the Cost of Home items?

I knew home would be a flop.

I doubt it's going to get better.

Shame really as it would have been nice had it worked out.

Ah well time will tell, but I've gone nearly 2 years without needing home so another 2 hears without it won't bother me.

LOL - 79p for "Santa Claus Glasses"!!

So if you wanna look like santa for the next few days it'll cost you nearly five quid... at least you can have the santa beard for nothing.

I just seen some chump on HK Home wearing the santa gear

Re: what do you think of the Cost of Home items?

I really don't get it. I just logged into Home to give it a try and boy was I shocked when it wanted to charge me to buy a Xmas tree for my virtual house.

But sad people are spending money, I saw a guy wearing a Santa outfit, he must have paid for it.

Why do people want to spend real money on virtual items? its stupid beyond belief
