Help !

Our PS3 is being replaced by Sony, and my son is an avid on-line gamer. I am trying to make sure that when he gets the new machine he can pick up where he left off with his on-line games / download (for free) maps that he has previously downloaded from PS Store.

When he set up the On Line account, he set the Password to Autosave and he has not made a note of it (!). When we hit the Forgotten password button on the sign on screens it asks his date of birth but he admits that in his haste / excitement to set up the account he may have just input the first date that came into his head (teenagers !). He does not recall inputting any other security questions (even if he did, he probably won't be able to remember the answers he gave)

So, armed with just his Sign In id is there anyway to get into his account, even by contacting Sony ?

Before you say - YES, I have lectured him about the importance of noting passwords, using security questions etc.

Many thanks if you can help.

Re: Lost password

Hi, had the same trouble with my son!

If you have the master account and have set him up as a sub account you can access his details and change the password - its what i did.

If he is the master account then I don't know - hope this helps.

Have a look at my thread from a few weeks ago. If you have the email address then you should be able to sort it following the info in here.

That still requires date of birth and place of birth. so if you entered them in haste you won't be able to reset the password. I emailed sony about this before but got a bogus response...anyone else know how to reset your password if you 'forgot' your DOB and place of birth?!?!

Oh dear, sounds like unchartered territory to me. If Sony are anything like Microsoft than you will have a headache.....They wouldnt budge when i had a similar situation with my XBOX account. Good luck with it !!

Re: Lost password

Unless you know the security questions and the email adress, then SONY won't help you. Would it not be easier to just start a new account or have you got purchased content linked to this account

it's actually ok because i'm still logged into the account. i just have to make sure that i never log out as i won't be able top log back in. oh and trying to join betas like resistance 2 is impossible as they require you to sign in. it's my main psn playing account, got over 100 tropies on it, i have plenty of other accounts so it's not too bad. but if i log out by mistake then i'm going to cry non-stop on these forums and make everyone's life hell
