Little Help please- PSN video Service

Ok seeing as how the service launched yesterday im wondering if i have a US account but am from UK will it let me use this service. Or is it because the Blu-rays are region coded it'll let me download them but not be able to play it. Also if someone here already has a US PSN account but they are from UK can you comment as to if it will let you use this service. Thanks in advance

I've seen a post where some one who is in the UK who has an US account, they see the link on the PSN Store, but there are no videos.

Yeah its true. The link is definitely there but it does nothing when you click on it. Pretty sure its useless to UK based peeps anyway because of the credit card not being registered in the USA, similar to the normal US PSN!.

I got away to get around the whole credt card issue but if no movies come up then there's no point. Anywayz thanks you 2.

To be fair to Sony it might not be their fault. They might be waiting to get the all clear from the governing body that deals with media licensing/online entertainment/whatever for the PAL region.

Just guessing though.

Its an EU thing isnt it?? licensing laws an copyright??didnt I-tunes have a similar start up problem??

It's the same issues MS had when they brought the Video Marketplace to Euro-land, different distribution rights for different countries. They virtually had to start from scratch.

As for being able to access the store, think it's region locked by IP (confirmed by a few other users on NeoGAF too)

I've got a US account and I can't get in either...

For once it is not Sony's fault.

The UK and EU licencing and Copyright laws are a nightmare, both Apple and Microsoft had the same problems. Sony hope to overcome all of the barriers and lunch the service in the Autumn.

it might also have something to do with the fact that the US have a much larger and faster broadband service. can u imagine trying to download a movie on virgin media? ? 20mbit for about 30mins, then less than 600k for 5 hours ?

ISP's have been asking the BBC to make a contribution to the increase of bandwidth, since they launch BBCiplayer, as sites like this use a lot of bandwidth when compared to normal sites.

I read a statistic which said the BBC iPlayer accounts for 80% of the UK's internet traffic!
