PS3 Video Download Service Goes Live Tonight

... at least in the U.S

At E3 sony announced the long awaited downloadable video service.

TV episodes start at $1.99 and movies cost between $2.99 and $5.99 for rent. To buy a movie it'll cost $9.99 to $14.99

You can transfer the movies and TV episodes to your PSP

So far, partners in the service include Sony Pictures (obviously), Fox, MGM, Lionsgate, Warner, Disney, Paramount, Turner, and Funimation.

There's been no mention of a release in the UK, but if its not available by tomorrow we could have a long wait. The 360's version went live in the U.S. months before it was out over here.

Cool, I liked the concept on the 360 but mine is way too loud for watching films. I might actually use it on the PS3.

I wonder if a fake US account will be enough to get access to the Sony store, Microsoft filter IP addresses to make sure there's no region hopping apparently!

Somewhere else I read (kotaku I believe) that it might work if you use a proxy service in front of the PS3 to make it look like you are breaking out onto the net using a US IP Address.

Who's gonna be the first one to try this? (I wouldn't know where to start to be honest!)

Re: PS3 Video Download Service Goes Live Tonight

I have managed to access the US store by going via a US based VPN service. Works a treat.

Re: PS3 Video Download Service Goes Live Tonight

What was the name of the VPN service you used and can you outline a basic setup guide - Would be most appreciated!
