Voice Chat on PS3

Has anybody tried this or more to the point had any sucess? I find the system patchy at best as there always appears to be a delay with the system. Now I also have a 360 and to be honest its quite seemless. I use a Nokia BH 800 headset (i think thats the model number) but i find the delay quite anoying.

Just a little moan really and to see if anyone has any tips for using it. I tried mainly because GTA IV imenent release as i expect the online will be quite good fun and with chat even more fun...mainly due to the slagging off....in a nice way of course.

V tired.

Re: Voice Chat on PS3

Well thats true....honestly no hidden agenda here i.e. 360 vs ps3 scenario just merely interested if anyone had similar experiences and if other headsets gave different results...

Oh well....

Re: Voice Chat on PS3

mine has a lag... and i also have an annoying echo effect... drives me crazy when people have their volume up so loud that i get the reverb back via their mic!

Re: Voice Chat on PS3

Hi I am new ps3 owner but long time console / pc user and the voice comms on the ps3 is REALLY bad.

Ive tried it now in little big planet (3 sec lag when talking) and pes 2009 (becomes stuttery and delayed and not very clear).

But saying this the voice comms is FINE when you just try using the chat room on the ps3 main screen.

This has lead me to think that the games cannot simply cope or arent written very well to cope with voice comms in general.

Voice comms works fine on pc games and i also used it on my xbox (not 360) using xbox live and it worked crystal clear and also zero lag.

I too like you have noticed the little there is on the internet about others complaining about this, especially as little big planet is such a huge flagship for the ps3!

I've only tried a madcatz bluetooth headset which works fine on phone just not on the ps3. My friend uses the ps3 webcam as a mic (not brill i know) but it too is bad.

I have one of the old 40gb ps3's by the way and its fully updated as of november 2008.

voice comms should be a core thing for any gaming console especially the ps3!

Re: Voice Chat on PS3

it could be more down to the fact of xbox live and the standards. with a 360 you get a mike out of a box. with the ps3 you dont and can use any bluetoth device which will all work completly different thus give different results.

thus 360 constant quality of mike performance, where on the ps3 its patchy because of the different route taken
