With latest 3.0 update, gamers can't share content now?

That is my question, because one of my teammates owed me from a Sony gift card I sent to him. So, he allowed for me to download Socom Conf., but when I try to launch it, I get an error code saying I "cannot use this content on this system"!?

So, I guess sharing is out now? Can anyone confirm, or shed some light on this?

Did you keep his account on your system?

Yes, I kept his account on my PS3. However, a new development last night...

We found out that when content is purchased and downloaded, the new update/PS3 only allows for the main account, and one other to use the content at THAT time.

I was able to loadup and play Socom last night, but one of my other guys that was previously able to play, wasn't able to. He was getting the same error as I was, when I was trying to launch the game.

So, it seems, there is now a cap on how many PS3's can access/play content from a single account.

If anyone has any additional info they would like to add, or has this figured out, please post. :-)

Yeah.

Why not all buy it and then you can all play at once?

Hope that helps.

Because I brought it before when it first came out, and stop playing it. Then after I went back to my download history, it showed as if I never purchased it. I contacted Sony... ... ... ... ... uh... still nothing from them!

Correct.

Unsurprisingly devs have noticed this "game sharing", and the T&Cs of 5 downloads for one PSN game were designed for multiple PS3's in one household or to redownload in hardware failure, for one user, not to allow five people to get a game at 1/5th the price.

So some of the later games only allow one game to be used by a single account at a time. Which seems fair to me.

Note: this is on a game by game basis, not a PSN-wide thing. I think Warhawk might have the same "issue".

It does, when someone that has gameshared warhawk loads it all other people that have downloaded it from the same account are blocked for 24 hours

This isn't retroactive with games is it? e.g. Burnout Paradise works fine with game sharing (no 24hr lockdown), so it'll still work now?

Thanks guys for the feedback. I think it is a good thing overall... as long as Sony doesn't try and get greedy with DLC like MS on Live.

The only problem for me was, that I had to re-purchase my map packs bc it was no longer showing up in my DL history or cart.

careful. Game sharing is a big no no to Sony. They have recently banned a few people for game sharing.

However, you must not give your friends your account information - and we advise that you remove your account from anyone elses console once you have finished playing.

Please remember - giving someone else your account details is both risky and idiotic - even if they are a close friend. Further, it's actually a breach of the PSN's T&C's and can result in permanent suspension from the network if your account becomes compromised.

So - to clarify: Playing the games you have purchased on PSN using your mates console is fine - and you can do this on up to 5 activated consoles. Giving your buddies your PSN ID and Password so they can download and use all your stuff as and when they please is illegal, and can result in a ban.

Much love!

They will have a job proving that people are doing something 'illegal' when they're legitimately offering the means to share account details - unless your console had the maximum amount of shared accounts

Re: With latest 3.0 update, gamers can't share content now?

Well, if Sony did a better job at recorvery/customer support for gamers like myself that did in fact purchase content, but no longer can access it. Then, they need to get that in check first IMHO.

Because of one of the PS3 system updates, my HD files was removed/deleted/corrupted you pick, but it was a problem, even more so when I went to re-download map packs, and they were no longer showing up as purchased already, even though it was in my DL history. I had to buy it AGAIN!!!

Companies like Sony make me mad sometimes, bc it feels like they only care about the "pennies" they lose rather than the headache some users face as the result of their mistakes.
