Re: PSN down for Maintenance

That would explain why I am getting a 8002a402 error..

Interestingly, this error code has never been posted on any forum to date and no hit are found with Google, so it must be a fairly new error.

Quite why they can't report the error in English, rather than a hex code.. How are laypeople ment to know that 8002a402 means "PSN Network Under Maintenance" and is not a fault!

Re: PSN down for Maintenance

My son called about 25 mins ago from his mum's to say he was getting this error and I have been hunting it down since! Nothing NADA, NOWT!
Then just googled it again mins ago and 4 hits. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! LOL! Would be nice if SONY displayed a maintenance message instead of an error code message though, would save alot of hassle!

To be fair Jon, 8002a402 doesnt mean "PSN Network Under Maintenance", its just a network fault as far as the PS3 is concerned. I get what you mean tho...

They should have a Sony 'friend' that messages everyone each month (and deletes on receiving the next system message) with maintenance times. As I have a JP PS3 the XMB 'information board' only shows JP messages, so I have no idea if they give that kind of info out over that.

.
I realise that, but its a different error than you get from a 'generic' network fault and more importantly its NEW.

Have a look at Google.. When I first got the error today, Google gave NO hits for this error.. now its full of posts and guess what.. they are all from 1 hour ago.

So this 'specific' error means something other than "Network Fault" and it specific and has never happened before!
