| Re: Anyone had problems getting onto the PSN this weeikend?
Turns out that it wasn't the DNS after all.. Bottom line is that I need to reboot the router every day.
After I fix the problems and then leave it for 24 hours, the problem comes back.. Interestingly, whilst its in this state (Where it won't connect to PSN) I can surf using the PS3 browser, run a speed test (which gives the correct results) and I can also access my router using my Touch or Laptop.
But I have difficulties connecting to the PSN.. And today even when I got conneted, I couldn't get a game in COD and Warhawk.
I rebooted the router (Again) and immediatly it was fine again.
Luckily I work in the industry, so I picked up a brand new DG834G today (this time a V4).. I hoped it would solve my problem and after installing it, I was hopeful.. But when I tried to get a game in COD, it would stall at "Setting Up Game...."! I managed to get past this a few times, by leaving it for 5-10 mins, but when the game is playing, its really 'glitchy'.
I know from experince that this is a port problem.. But I have my PS3 in the DMZ so this shouldn't be a problem.. Either way, I added the ports manually and also enabled uPnP (And verified that the ports were being opened) and I still had the problem.
In the end, I went back to the V3 and it working perfectly.. But only for now.
It looks like I am either going to have to live with the V3, but reboot it every day, or get myself a different make... Or I guess, my only other option is to go back to my Thompson!!
Surely I can't be the only one using a Netgear DG834G? Its not like I am an idiot.. At the end of the day, I do this (Supporting IP applications) for a living, so I know what I am doing.. Consideirng that I have tried two versions of the router and many versions of firmware and have different problems with each combination, Netgear clearly have some issues! At the end of the day, its not config, as what works now with the V3 does not work the same with the V4...
