Homeplugs - the future?

I'm about to buy a set of homeplugs as I'm sick of trying to connect the PS3 wirelessly to my Netgear modem/router (DG834G via Sky Broadband).

What I'm wondering about is the comments about ensuring that the homeplugs are all on the same electrical circuit/fusebox.

My study's sockets (where the PC and modem are) is on a different fuse (on the same fusebox) to the lounge (where my PS3 is). Is this going to be a problem?

Also, do the homeplugs connect to the PS3 via ethernet socket at back of PS3 or into USB socket? It seems that some of the homeplugs connect via USB and I'm not sure whether the PS3 will accept those?

any recommendations for PS3 use would be appreciated - it seems from reading other posts that the 54mbps homeplugs are fine for PS3 use?

All replies are gratefully received.

Thanks

Em

I have just bought and fitted these BT Comtrend Powerline HD Ethernet Female Kit (038196) - BT Shop (was £36 last week) with the same router as yourself and my upstairs sockets are on a different circuit breaker to the ones downstairs.
All is well, simple to do and i have now moved my router into the livingroom and plugged the PS3 directly into it with the ethernet cable supplied. Please note I needed three cables 1. pc to plug A, 2. plug B to router, 3. router to PS3
I can now f forward and rewind HD films through TVersity as well which was the plan.

hopes this helps.
