Error 80710723

Hi
I know there are other posts regarding this error 80710723 but I can't make head nor tail of them. Please can someone explain, in easy language, how to resolve this issue. I have the 80gb "fat" ps3 with a wireless connection to a netgear DG834PN router. I am trying a system download but get this error. The IP address of my ps3 is in the DMZ whatever that is. I can connect to the internet via the ps3. Also, I have down loaded the new software version 3.07 onto a dongle and have tried to update that way, but the ps3 says there is no flash drive connected albeit the flash drive is in the usb slot in the front????????
