post office netgear router and ps3

Hi,

i'm having serious problems connecting my ps3 to my Netgear Dg834g router suppied by the post office, It says there's a problem with security when there isn't.
A bit of research revealed that said router was known to have problems and given a firmware update, but the post office have locked their version and not sent out an update.

Is it possible to use my mac as a wireless adapter and connect the ps3 via ethernet through the laptop?

thanks for any help
