hi just a quick one can anyone help?
i switched to 02 broadband and recieved the thomson wireless box 2
pc broadband is fine but playing the ps3 is frustrating i cannot play online on fifa 09 or any cod games other games are fine,
i have portforwarded the neccesary ports which have not solved the problem

i have been told to put my ps3 in a dmz zone?
i have set up my ps3 manually putting in the neccesary router and dns details given by my ipconfig etc and have gave my ps3 a static adresss 192.168.1.100

the ps3 which is connected wired connects online with these settings as before but with the same fifa cod problems i have gone into my routers settings using superuser and under devices i can see my ps3 with the static ip i have given it as above

but the problem is when i select asigna device a ip adress the only thing available on the drop down menu is my pc the ps3 does not show up
i have been told only dynamic adresses will show up here? but i thought i needed to give my ps3 a static address to allow it to be put into dmz?

i have anetgear adsl2 dg834g which im tempted to try but i thought this would be simple? any help gladly apreciated

do you have uPnP set as on for your router and PS3??

yes upnp is set up on both ps3 and my router and i have nat 2

i had a similar problem as this with Lost Planet on the PS3, i couldnt join games and when i actually finished the game the game would error and me not get my points..
this is how i fixed mine..
1. Delete game data (so i have to reinstall it)
2. Reset settings on the router (then only turn on the security features and uPnp)
3. Unplug router, modem, and PS3 - leave for 5 minutes then restart everthing again
4. Install game again and it to worked.

Main things is the restart your router settings so you not assigned any IP etc as this should all be automatic.. then go into ps3, network setting, wired/wireless then follow through and test connection afterwards and hopefully it should work

I've had a couple of ISPs, but always had problems with Fifa 09 - it's consistently crashing server-wise and i'm lucky if i get one game in 10 to connect, very frustrating!

Having said that, with BT at the moment, and COD works like an absolute charm assuming the missus isn't downloading or streaming telly!

i was on be broadband before 02 and had constant problems with fifa and cod using the bebox they supply,i bought a netgear router and put my ps3 in dmz and the problems stopped

i guess il end up doing the same again i just thought their might be a way around it using the 02 router that 02 supply

ll sorted now replaced the 02 wirelss box with the netgear and problems have stopped plus i have noticed better wireless connction speeds and signal too cheers to everyone who took the time to reply thanks
