Exclamation Possible Broadband fix for anyone using a BT phone socket for their BB provider.....

Just looking on another forum and stumbled across a thread on this, it appears to make a slight difference in BB speed once done as several people came back with good feedback!

Anyway here is the web page with instructions on what to do?!

Sky User - How to remove the ring wire from your master socket

In a nutshell you are basically removing a wire that was previously used in old style phones that had a bell on them not a digital tone like most phones nowadays!

Good Luck.

*Try at your own risk and don't come moaning to me if you do something wrong!!

Re: Possible Broadband fix for anyone using a BT phone socket for their BB provider..

One thing to try before you think about cutting any wires - remove the lower faceplate from the NTE5, connect your broadband router directly into the socket behind the faceplate (this means you're connecting it directly into the BT presentation and you've isolated the line from your internal wiring). If you see a big improvement in ADR, reduction in the attenuation, and/or an increase in the SNR, etc. then there's issues with your internal wiring.

BUT if in doubt don't mess with the NTE5 as it's BT equipment.
