hi guys

I really need some help i have recently signed up for orange mobile broadband and i have a sim card dongle, can anyone out there please tell me how i get my PS3 to work online with this it is driving me nuts

Not that I've done this, but I would imagine it would be along the lines of installing a linux distro onto the ps3, then getting some call management software on it (iirc the orange dongle doesnt support linux out the box) and then connecting from there.

I have installed Orange broadband onto a Linpus operating Acer Aspire One, and tbh it was a bit of a pain as alot of the info on the Orange website isnt actually correct when it comes to mobile bb log ins etc. but as always Google is your friend and the PS3 is a damn sight more powerful than the AAO and using Ubuntu should offer you alot of flexibility.

iirc there was a thread similar to this a while back and i think you'd have to have the PC connected to the dongle then ad-hoc to the ps3. as i say though thats iirc, and that it is at all possible.

Even if you got it working you would have an awful connection using it, could you not get proper broadband?

You can't....... the PS3 won't have the drivers onboard it needs for the dongle. Only option is to plug it into a PC and setup an Ad-hoc connection as mentioned earlier.

I used a Vodafone dongle shared form my PC before my broadband was installed. Believe it or not it worked fine for weeks!
