All new games have trophy support. It's been mandatory by Sony since the beginning of the year.

Re: Ratchet and Clank:A Crack in Time - Play & Help Thread

Is this the first Ratchet game which contains difficulty levels?? I always thought previous Ratchet games was a standard difficulty and got harder as you progressed through the story.

Getting mine tomorrow after trading in Brutal Legend. But just happened to pop by a friends house who had received his copy from Shopto and had a blast on the game. As was described to me via MSN if you love the series you'll love this iteration.

Re: Ratchet and Clank:A Crack in Time - Play & Help Thread

Anyone found any decent instore prices on this today? I haven't managed to get to any supermarkets yet but I struggled to get Uncharted 2 under £40 on release day. I would like to play this weekend but feel that the price will drop under the pressure of other releases (COD MW2).
So, anyone found a decent price instore?

Re: Ratchet and Clank:A Crack in Time - Play & Help Thread

I'll say first I'm a very strong believer in "If it'aint broken dont fix it"

So I'm really looking forward to picking this up tomorrow morning.

But what i would of like to of seen is a arena style multi-player. That would of been a lot of fun

Yes it has difficultly levels.

This new R&C game is superb fun, I really am enjoying it so far and it has that 'just 5 more minutes' appeal. Its very addictive.

Graphics are also improved over the last R&C and I like the new additions such as rocket boots, recording feature for multiple characters and all the new weapons.

Re: Ratchet and Clank:A Crack in Time - Play & Help Thread

sorry to ask again, but has anyone purchased this instore today? I cannot get to a phone to ring anywhere and pass a Sainsbury's, Argos, PC World and Morrisons on the way home so would like to pop in and buy it (before 5PM) if it is a reasonable price at any of them. I believe it is £39.97 in Asda.

Then, of course, I can contribute fully to this thread...

I got mine from Blockbusters but no special price I'm afraid just £39.99 - although I did as mentioned earlier trade in Brutal Legend which brought the price down to £13. I'll give my thoughts etc later tonight when I've had a proper go.

Re: Ratchet and Clank:A Crack in Time - Play & Help Thread

Cheers guys, seems my local Sainsburys and Morrisons don't even have it in store!!

Looks like I pay £40 or wait until COD and Assassins creed push the price down.

Thanks for the help, definitely a game I want as I absolutely love the series.

Can I ask what the Blockbuster trade in deal involves?

Is this up to the standard of the pr4evious PS3 installments?
Is it more of the same?

Very interested to hear people's opinion as this is on my list of maybe's.

Re: Ratchet and Clank:A Crack in Time - Play & Help Thread

I will tell you tomorrow, just bought it. Weird thing though, I asked for a sealed copy as it was for a gift but they don't have sealed copies. I asked how I would return it if it was 'unwanted' and the assistant gave me a gift receipt and said it should be no problem to return it; just tell them it was not sealed when sold.

So, dilemma now..do I play it, return for refund, then buy it again when it is cheap?

Re: Ratchet and Clank:A Crack in Time - Play & Help Thread

Had a good few hours on this, this evening so inital thoughts below:

Pro's

- Very nice graphics not a massive improvement over TOD but what has been done looks nice plays smoothly and no tearing / slowdown
- Cutscenes are very very funny - Capt Quark (my fave character is hilarious)
- Perfect for gamers who enjoy collectables, plenty of stuff to search for
- The puzzles what I've seen so far look well implemented different types different thinking to solve each puzzle every time
- On-screen instructions explain things which at first thought seemed difficult to do
- If you enjoy the series then the vast majority will enjoy this game
- Installation of game data features a 1:1 interview with Capt Quark explaining what has been going on in the series. However its from Capt Quark's perspective (which means things are slightly changed).

Cons

- If you are new to the series probably not the best game to start with and learn what has been going on in previous games
- The difficulties are a bit of a waste since 'Hard' mode which I've started on is a breeze.

Extra Info

All in all its such a good game well worth the cost and something which I'll be playing for quite a while. Getting platinum on this would be a pleasure and not a chore like some games can be.

I would say its the best one so far. Graphics are slightly improved, gameplay is exactly the same but with added features. Its also very addictive just like the previous games in the series.

If you liked the past R&C then you will love this.

Hi

I just got this game this morning from shopto.net. Not had a channce to play it yet but I had downloaded the demo earlier in the week and really liked it, hence that why I bought it lol. As I'm still a new PS3 user, I've not played any of the other R&C games before. Will I really find this hard to get used to?

Baz

Re: Ratchet and Clank:A Crack in Time - Play & Help Thread

PLayed for a few hours this morning and I do believe the graphics are slightly better than the original PS3 game. I am loving the Mario Galaxy style bits and the free roaming nature of the space flight.
It is funny and amazing to look at....great game all in all.

How dare you Ratchet & Clank did this first (if you are referring to platforming on small planets?), still both are great games

Might be my memory failing me but I don't recall any previous Ratchet games having that spherical type level (like in Mario Galaxy). That was what I was referring to. Ironically, the whole viewpoint was first used (to good effect) back in Sonic games where the bonus levels had you doing the same sort of thing hitting blue balls and avoiding the red ones....that was great at the time.

By the way, any idea how long this game is?

A review I read estimated about 9-10hours play time, variable depending on what difficulty and how good you are of course.

Picked this up today and initial impressions are that it's yet another fantastic game in the series!

I say initial impressions because i'm struggling to get my 3 yr old off it at the moment .

I had to install ps3 firmware 3.01 when I put the game in for the first time, maybe that's what was being referred too?

Played last night and no patch...is anyone else getting a lack of response when pressing the weapon buttons? I can run, jump, throw wrench but couldn't fire a weapon for quite a few seconds at a time last night.
