nope sorry mine just connected straight away. Have you tried a different USB slot. Does the camera still work with eyecreate or in a chat window?

Re: eyepet and magic card problems

try shining a torch on it. I had problems with the eye of judgement if the room wasn't well lit. Even if you think its well lit it might not be enough for the eye.

If a torch works, you'll have to find some way to get more light onto the area.

Re: eyepet and magic card problems

Also, make sure the camera is high enough. I found that it needed to be a minimum of 60cm above the floor/table for the card to be recognised easily.

EyePet - Play & Help Thread

Can't see an existing thread so thought I'd get the ball rolling...

Am enjoying it so far, although found the "take the photo of your pet sleeping" challenge a bit too difficult.

Also the lack of instruction in some of the challenges could be a problem for kids

Re: EyePet - Play & Help Thread

Whoops just posted this in preview section, better suited here:

Its kind of like all the other camera games, very hit and miss.

When it works its quite impressive, when it doesnt its really annoying.

Even i was having difficulty getting it to do the tricks, so under 10's will struggle.

Also i dont like the way it forces you to work through the trials to open up all the items.

You have to do certain things, like take a picture of it asleep, to be rewarded with toys.

I need to try it with my room brightly lite, as its quite dark normally which i think effects the camers ability to track movements.

For £15 its ok, though if i'd have rented, i dont think i'd have bought it, but i've not fully experienced it all yet, so maybe not a valid review.

Does the in game set up instructions not state 30cm - 60 cm high?

I found I first positioned the camera so we the user was perfectly visible on th screen which was the impression I got how the game would be played. All I got when trying to recognise th card was lots of beeping and an info box.
I had to tilt the camera right down as stated in the set up instructions then the card could be positioned close enough for it to be recognised. Doing this though then chopped our heads off on the screen.

Has anyone else found this or have you manged to recognise the card whist keeping the users o the screen???

Re: EyePet - Play & Help Thread

its working reasonably well here . yes our heads are chopped off with the camera angle, which is a bit poor.
12 yr old loves it though, but thats more to do with cute thing than whether it works ok.
im not convinced - as stated previously its very hit and miss.

Re: EyePet - Play & Help Thread

posted this elsewhere, but maybe I can get some help on here?

damn, this is my new love/hate game.

Love the tech, the solidness of the monkey-kitten-thing etc. But the playstation eye is rubbish for real homes, and the interface is really bad too.

Its aimed to appeal to children, but they don't understand you have to point the stupid card towards the camera.

The intro where you set up your playstation eye is laughable. You need light, but not too much. Really? I pity the retinas of anyone who naturally has too much light in their house for the eye. I think the main problem is that the eye is quite a short range device - especially in this game. You need a well lit area for it to work at its best, but unless you have lights a foot in front of your TV, you'll almost always cast a shadow over the area. I'm going to try bringing a couple of desk lamps into the lounge tomorrow, see if that helps.

And how the heck do you do the camera tasks? Make a photo that looks like you're friends. I was rolling around on the floor gurning like a loon, clicking the R1 button like mad, but nothing. I even tried drawing a smiley face to see if it had some basic smile detection and my lighting was too dark, but nothing.

And then your camera fills up. At no point does it mention you're keeping these photos. I thought I was just taking them for the challenge. So I go in to delete them, and you have to do them one by one! And its not even quick - press O to view a picture, then triangle to delete, then O to confirm (in a nasty XMB popup), then you have to wait for the photos to redraw. Took me ages to delete everything, while my 5-year old daughter kept asking me when we could get back to the game.

The drawing is kind of fun, but again there are pointless restrictions. "don't draw the picture too big, leave some space". They fail to mention you have to leave a LOT of space otherwise you're sitting there fidgeting backwards and left and twisting trying to get all the red bits to disappear. Why so fussy?

The playstation eye team are very technically talented, but I wish they'd hire some people who know how not to annoy the crap out of the entire family.

I'll persevere, at least to unlock the 'draw a model' bits but I'm not convinced it has staying power. Its already annoying a bit with the 'plate spinning' of 'oh I'm hungry/dirty/sad' a bit too often, especially when you just want to fiddle with it (!) and you need time to get used to the interface so don't want rushing

oh, and its practically impossible to wash your eyepet. No matter what motion you do with your hands for half an hour, it doesn't bubble up. It just does it when it feels like it.

if anyone does have any proper tips for the photo tasks and maybe how to lather up your eyepet properly, it'd be appreciated. I'm going in again tomorrow at the request of my children, and I don't want to cry in front of them.

Re: EyePet - Play & Help Thread

Am actually enjoying this (or should I say my 8 year old daughter is).
We've got up to day 5 of the challenges and you then have to wait for a day until you can start 6.

I really do like the drawing parts. The way the program gives you an idea of what to draw but then leaves you to do your own style of it. It then copies your version (in its own crap at drawing kind of way)(although that could be because we are crap at drawing too).

Be interesting to see what DLC comes along for this.

For £15 it's a neat little plaything

Re: EyePet - Play & Help Thread

finally passed the 'take a photo with your pet as a friend'. Apparantly my son is much better at smiling than me and my daughter. The eyepet immediately went over to him when he started smiling.

Up to day 6 now so I have to wait a day to carry on

It is getting better so I'll persevere.

BTW, I saw a TV ad for it today, and it clearly showed the sofa and people sitting on it. But I can only see our feet as its pointing down so much. Is that just marketing nonsense? I can't imagine being able to see so much of a lounge when its 30-60cm from the ground and pointing down to its maximum. Maybe a little more height/less angle might help the camera focus on the card?

Re: EyePet - Play & Help Thread

yeah very hit and miss for me, got it for my 6yr old daughter and she liked it when it worked, but when eye wasnt reconising her movements etc then she soon got annoyed and bored with it, ive open a few days worth as if u put the date forward in yr settings by a day then new stuff opens up, ive oppened up the car, plane and robot, as well as flowers, which little lass loved cause could plant them and make them grow, then it said tap at bottom of flower to get rid of it, me and little lass must have been hammering floor trying to get it to go, yet it didnt pick it up, this is the thing for me with all camera stuff some times it works and other times it dont, plus like what was already said i found it hard working out what u have to do on some of later challenges, my daughter would never have figured it out, it would have been a lot better with more explanations to some of the challenges or even if they had videos of people doing what u suppose to do in a help menu

i got a couple to smash, by letting the eye pet put them in its mouth then smash them while the eye pet holding them, otherwise if u try while they just on the ground they go flying everywhere, but time ran out before i could get silver medal and gave up for night, might have a go later

The card was tucked into the left side of the disc box when we bought ours - it's a rectangular card, just smaller than the disc box, with a paw print in black and white and Eye Pet written in red on the bottom. The game won't work without it. Have you taken out all the inserts, including the instructions and checked?

I think it's a bug. I simply quit the game and started again and it unlocked more challenges.

Re: EyePet - Play & Help Thread

hi guys im new here and seen that you was having problems with your eye pet well i got mine yesterday and was having the same problems as you

well the thing with the mellos is easy ( dont get me wrong i was doin the same as you lot and tuck me 2hr to figer it out lol )

your eye pet is playing basebal with you here is what you need to do

hold the BAT and wait for your eye pet to get a mellon and then YOU click and hold X and wait for the eye pet the trrow the mellon in the air THEN you let go of X and HIT the mellon it will then Smash in the air and you get 1 mellon HIT keep doin this and till you pass the test

if you need any more tips please let me no as yes i am 31 year old but one of my job at where i work s to test out new games and then i can give advice about that game well there was the first help

If you ask me eyepet needs to make it where there is vids to show you what you need to do.. there is no gliches so far

As for the flower im getting the same problem but try and not tap the grass but the stem about 4 times some times longer but it will remove

if this dont work try and make the room a bit ligher or change the settings to your cam but i really dont think it will be the cam tho

have fun and happy gameing

(ps befor anyone says anything about my spelling i do have a problem and im from the UK lol )

Quite enjoying this early mornings with my son - but for the life of me can't wash my pet in under 60 seconds for the trophy? Don't think it even tells you your time?

Oh and has anyone got any tips fir the trampoline challenge about day 5 or so - can't get the bugger to jump 6ft for the gold trophy - mine tops out at 5.85!

Re: EyePet - Play & Help Thread

Aghhhhhh!! My EyePet is driving me insane! The trampoline challenge is rather tricky to get gold but the main thing annoying me is the garden tasks, I tap the flower and grass to try and remove the flower but my pet looks at the screen and shakes its head as if to say "You can't be serious..."

Can anyone help or share a video demonstrating it?

Rob
