Is this deliberate by Sony? Looking at the discs available, there are a lot of songs that I would not want, but would be happy to download and pay for them. |
I know this topic is a few months old, but I'm in the same boat.
The online SingStore website lists many songs that do not appear on the PS3 SingStore. Queen and Depeche Mode appears on the site but not on the PS3. HIM has 5 songs on the site but only 1 on the PS3.
I called Sony today for answers.

After twenty minutes support finally figured out that the website is not the website for North America. If you go to singstarstore.com and click on the American flag, you're brought to an entirely different site, to playstation.com, where it shows the picture of the game and a few reviews and nothing else. The online SingStore is apparently designed for europe, which is why many songs listed online for download do not appear in the game for download. There is no SingStore for the US except what appears on the PS3. There isn't even a list of songs available in the US, I suppose I should be fortunate there's even songs available to download in the US since apparently we're not worthy of a website.
I'm very disappointed in Sony. If you google "SingStore" or "singstar songs" you're brought directly into the site, and it lists all the songs not available in the US. There's very little warning of this, the only indication is the tiny "change country" at the top and the fact that the US is not listed as an option.
It seems all the songs I wanted are not available for download in the US. I bought the PS3 because of SingStore. I have all the singstar games for the ps2 and when I saw that I could download many songs I didn't have on the PS3 I decided it was time to take the plunge. Without those songs I no longer need a ps3. I will probably sell the system.
I'm shocked this information isn't available anywhere online. Reviews didn't mention it and I couldn't find any blogs about it. I can't be the only one disappointed by the fact that dozens of great songs are missing.
