Question Is SingStar the game my son needs?

My 6yr old sons birthday this month and he's after a karaoke machine.

I have thought about getting him a game to sing along to on the PS3.

So, is SingStar suitable/ok/recomended/what we need?

Personally I think it'd be pretty close to what you need. Really depends on what your son wants to sing but given that the SingStar singalong with Disney has just been launched I think you'll be fine as long as you get that pack. Don't think there is any High School Musical on Singstar though! Although happy be corrected however...

My fiance who is 28 (but going on 8) loves Singstar!

I bought singstar for the GF the other week, I would rather have it than a karoke machine any day plus its only £1 to download a song from the online database. They are always adding new songs and song packs so your son should be able to find something he likes .

If you have a 60gb model you can play the PS2 singstar games which you can pick up cheaply & there is a PS2 High School Musical singing game.......

My kids were totally disappointed with that game so I wouldn't recommend it.
They much prefer the normal singstar songs

As for the price it does add up but you don't have to buy them

TBH I think most of the songs I got with my singstar are rubbish, I should have got the older cheaper version because it has a better song list imo.

Even if you don't have a 60 gig console there should be a future update to singstar that will alow you to play the PS2 singstar games on it, rumour has it, before the end of the year, this is something clever they wrote into the game and only effects singstar. The game itself is great my wife loves it, download the tracks you want, go online and post your videos. Might be worth looking at the PSeye camera as well which is compatible. You get about 30 odd songs on the disc so you don't need to download tracks but if there's a track he wants it's much cheaper than the old way of spending about £20 on a disc that has a load of songs you're not interested in

Re: Is SingStar the game my son needs?

Manged to borrow the game and 2x mic's off a friend yesterday.

My 6yr old son tried to sing "Monster" (whats that coming over a hill, is it a monster.....) song. But laughed the whole way through the funny video.

A strange sellection of songs on the disc
