Is there a way to back up the downloads. all the songs go on to the internal hard drive is there a way to back them up on to a external hard drive device.

Don't think so, and I don't think it would do you a lot of good anyway. I guessing you want to do it incase your console fails. Well your downloads are tied to your console, so when your new console comes back, you can't redownload the songs anyway.

You will need to contact Sony, have them reset your SingStar account and refund the cost of the songs. You can then enjoy buying and downloading them all over again
