I take it these where downloaded from the PSN store??

If so all you need to do is log into the store on your slim with the same account - top right is a tab which allows you to see your transaction history - from here you should be able to re-download your songs. I think you can download anything you have brought upto five times.

Typical - if it don't let you re-download them in singstar try looking in the back of the instruction booklet - these normal have numbers & emails - fire a email off explaining what has happened etc and see what they say.

Yeah - just call Sony (SCEE UK) tell them what happened, they put in a request, then you get an email back to say you can go an re-download the tunes. Can take a few days.

The issue is the tunes are linked to that PS3, so they have to reset something when you change devices.

Totally daft, you pay almost £1 for a tune, then they feel the need to restrict its use to once machine, wht not restrict it per logon? The sooner these companies get their heads around resonable rights to owenrship the better.

I haven't had this problem. Fortunately my ps3 is still working (crosses fingers).

In fact i have never played singstar! However, my wife is having some pals round at the weekend who all enjoy a good sing song and who are all Abba fans so to get some extra brownie points i bought her Singstar Abba.

Now i see that it gives access to the singstore. I can't see me singing much Abba but i suspect on future boys nights after a few pints some of the stuff in the store might appeal.

What put me off buying tracks is that i had already read that this problem can arise if you change from one ps3 to another. If that does happen and you need to phone Sony to get the tracks authorised on another machine do you need to keep a list of what tracks you have purchased? I can see me for example downloading things after a few jars and forgetting i have done it. No prospect of me keeping track of this unless the game does it for you.

Also, do the tracks remain permanently? Some of the ones i saw on the store have a padlock next to them and no obvious way to download them. Does this mean they are no longer available?

Cheers

@derek1971: I would expect that Sony would keep some kind of record of what tracks you downloaded as you would have to buy them anyway. If I recall, most of my purchases are confirmed through an e-mail sent to the account to my PSN address. Just have a look there if you've kept them.

I am in the same situation as the OP, my old PS3 died and I have a new slim, so I just need to find the contact details and I want to know how long this process will take. I'm going back to Uni next week and won't really have time to do anything for another two weeks afterwards (I hate exams ) so I want to try and get it done ASAP.

If you ring Sony customer services, they will 'unlock' your account and allow the tracks to be redownloaded to another box.

BUT.. Be aware that they consider this as a "Good Will Gesture" as its outside of the terms that you agreed to when you bought the tracks.
