Just bought the PS3 Eye to use with Singstar, just had a play with it and all I can get is a picture of my room, no effects like the Eyetoy in this video

Does the PS3 eye not have the capability to produce the effects like the earlier version? Is the earlier version compatable with the PS3 and if so do you get the weird effect?
