RockBand: Beatles - Play & Help thread.

I'm loving this so far, I ended up getting the limited edition set (Traded in a seldom used wii and other games) the presentation is beautiful, the songs are genius but my guitar has a slightly iffy blue note button It works most of the time but I find I have to press a little harder to get it to register.

Well worth the wait, now just waiting for my boys to get home from school so we can set about becoming the fab four

Re: RockBand: Beatles - Play & Help thread.

I agree, presentation is 1st class. Really enjoying it. It's been a while since I've listened to any Beatles albums, so it's great hearing, and playing!, some of those songs you had forgotten about.

I feel like my wallet might take a hit once the DLC tunes start making there way into the store!

Anyone found a list of the secret trophies yet?

Re: RockBand: Beatles - Play & Help thread.

Just had a quick blast and is anyone else not getting any drum noise from the kit. In RB and RB2 when you hit the drums you got a sound regardless of whether it was on a note, but I'm not getting anything. Anyone else getting the same ?

EDIT: Actually just found this - "There are no drum fills, and hitting a pad before a song starts results in silence. The guitar's whammy bar has no effect on pitch, and the rock-out endings from Rock Band 2 are understandably absent. In that sense, some of the immersive touches from previous Rock Band editions are missing."

Totally understand why there are no fills in there, but the lack of seperate drum sounds just felt a little odd imho. I find the percussive track on some of the tracks very subtle too which doesn't help with your connection with the game when all you can hear is 'tap tap tap' on the pads. Its a minor quibble though, as everything else from the presentation to the song list is first class.

Hmmm... Maybe the contract said the tracks had to follow the masters - no improv - but that meant no off-timed sounds too? Do guitars make the "tink tink" sound if you strum at the wrong time, or has that been removed also?

I suppose the answer is just plug a monitor into your drum-brain, and get sounds direct and independent of the game

It is quite probably a strict license. I haven't tried the guitars out, but considering that the whammy bar no longer has any effect on pitch, it does seem that anything other than channels ducking out if you mis-time the playing of your note, is not allowed.

Fair enough I guess and is no doubt one of the T&C's Harmonix had to accept to get the license. Also a shame I own the old Rockband drums.

Time to upgrade? A set of new TD9KX's are only £1500, and you can get them cheaper, a number of 360 Rock Banders love them!

Anyone about today and want to have a crack at the band trophies? I intend to do nothing but play with the cat and drum all day

EDIT: saw in the 360 thread you can get bonus photos with this code:

Blue
Yellow
Orange x3
Blue x3
Yellow
Orange

Key it at the start screen.

Very nice. I do think TD9KX is a little beyond my skill level but good to know that the game caters for 3rd party and/or pro kits if you so desire.

Nice that the Singstar mics are supported too for some 3 part harmonies.

Re: RockBand: Beatles - Play & Help thread.

Finished story mode, and got most Trophies i'm likely to get, 917 notes for I am the Walrus Just the challenge and 1 mil guitar/bass maybe.

However I dont think i'm not sold on Beatles: RB, I think they've lost the "Rock" part, as their quest for authenticity has distanced you, the player, from really connecting and rocking out. I remember... on Guitar Hero 1 sticking in the disc the first time and playing Wolf Mother on Easy, it was like "Woah!" air guitar on steroids, and getting a real rock vibe.

The Beatles seems to spit out sound which is nice and pure and balanced, which is great if you're sitting by your stereo listening to it, but sucks big time if you're the drummer and you cant hear the drums - there's this big disassociation. Even Teh Mrs says the music sounded "flat" or at least a bit odd compared to RB2.

As a comparison i fired up RB2 and played a few songs - Laid to Rest, Reducation Thru Labour, Alive etc and the difference is night and day. Maybe it's just because music has moved on, or i have more history with other songs (did listen to Beatles when young), but it seems to have lost the fun factor. IMO obviously.

Re: RockBand: Beatles - Play & Help thread.

This game is great.
Songs are timeless & there is something mellow about the play method.
The last rhythm based game I played was Guitar Hero 3 which seems manic in comparison to Beatles RB.
Haven't tried story mode as I'm bedding in my Logitech Guitar (without doubt the best peripheral I have ever used) but can't wait to get into this.

Think I'm gonna have to pick me up the Logitech drum set for Xmas.

Re: RockBand: Beatles - Play & Help thread.

Well my Hofner bass lasted 2 plays , at first (as mentioned earlier) the blue fret button stopped working, but then it would un-sync (is that a word ?) mid song and then sync again, but now it just flatly refuses to sync at all.

I went all through the warranty website and on the last page it tells me to take it back to the shop lol.

Oh well, back to the GH axe for a while.

Have to agree with this unfortunately. As much as I was looking forward to this, I am a little disappointed with my connection with the game, especially when playing the drums. As I mentioned earlier, the drum track is so subtle in the mix that you barely feel connected to the music when playing.

Of course the tracks and songs are timeless, they are classics, but that doesn't mean that they are the perfect tracks to 'rock' to. When I'm playing to a track on Rockband or Rockband 2, you really do feel like you are the drummer, but here it feels like you are simply hitting pads in time to the scrolling notes.

I can imagine there being a much better connection to the game if you are singing the songs and its still good fun and will play through the story mode etc., but it does just miss the mark for me.

Re: RockBand: Beatles - Play & Help thread.

just a heads up people. bought wireless SS mics today hooked them up with the rock band mic but could not hear rock band mic....after messing about with mic level sensitivity etc worked out that coz my ps eye was plugged in the game was recognising it as one of the mics..
make sure you disconnect the eye if you want 3 mics....then again dont if you only have one mic and use it as another wahey win win situation. Don't quote me on the quality though....

Re: RockBand: Beatles - Play & Help thread.

Decided to take the plunge on Friday and i haven't looked back. Only ever played Guitar Hero 1-3 and loved them all. I don't feel distanced from this game and don't find the drums lack any sound, especially in the first two rounds.

I did find it a bit easy on medium and looking forward to finally mastering the orange button which has always been a major problem for my chubby fingers when playing this game.

Looking forward to Abbey Road dlc and quite happy to pay the money...the boys don't have as much money as they used to so it's always good to help out a struggling artist.

Love "Here Comes The Sun"...really get the feeling of playing it.

Re: RockBand: Beatles - Play & Help thread.

I now have a new hofner bass thanks to the little gamestation monkeys

I'm loving "here comes the sun" too, also the way they go off into their dreamscape during the abbey road session of "hello goodbye" is genius. When they all end up dancing around it fills you with joy. The only thing i've found is that the game is more beautiful to watch than play, as when your trying to hit those notes you can't take in just what a labour of love this was for Harmonix.

Top, top game.

DLC please

Re: RockBand: Beatles - Play & Help thread.

Finished my 1st play through & think I may trade this game.
Reasons being it's just not the type of music I would play loud & the music gets progressively worse (very humble opinion please don't flame me) as the career goes on.
I think of the 2 reasons outlined the fact that this type of music isn't something I play loud is the deciding factor cos it means I loses some if the atmosphere I get when playing Guitar Hero 5 or Rock Band 2.

Can anyone tell me if the GH5 guitar works with this game? (and also if anyone knows whether the Band Hero drums will work with it, although I appreciate this is unlikely).

The Guitar Hero guitar and drums work will work with it, you won't use all 5 pads on the drums though, just the four.

^Yep it works no problem. Its the guitar that I've used to play this game myself this week.

Love the game by the way.

You need to refresh your gamer card. Click your gamer card to go to the PS website, sign into your account, go to your gamer card and click update/refresh. Give it a bit of time (it says ten mind but it's usually more) and your gamer card will update on the forums.
