Can I use PS2 game on PS3 console

Hi Everyone

I put a previous post up about singstore and you guys kindly helped me out. I have another question

My husband just bought his PS3 its an 80gb and Im wondering if I can put a ps2 singstar disc in it, I really want singstar 80s (dolly parton 9 to 5, hey its a classic

)

PS2 Singstar discs are the only PS2 games that will work in the PS3 - but you need to have one of the PS3 singstar discs to make the whole thing work.

You start a PS3 Singstar game, then use the 'eject disc' function - this keeps the game going and allows you to pop in a PS2 Singstar disc.

The only exception (doesn't apply to you but for info) is the first PS3 that came out (60GB version) - this does have PS2 compatibility. It had a chip that the following models didn't have - this provided compatibility for a large number of PS2 games.

I have the slim line 120gig version of PS3.
Will the ps2 singstar games still be compatible?

Post #2 is exactly correct for all version of the PS3 (obviously the 60gb is the only one that can do it without a Singstar PS3 disk)

I'm new to Singstar and the wife has requested some new Singstar discs. (We are hooked!) I have all the PS3 Singstars and was getting ready to buy some PS2 ones but wanted to ask here first.

I have a 60gb PS3.

Will my PS3 mics work on Singstar PS2?

Is there anyway to copy the songs to my hard drive from multiple versions of singstar? (PS2 and PS3)

Yep, the wired mics are the same and I'm 99% sure the wireless ones will work as well. There's no way of copying songs from disc to the HDD sadly. Singstar is ludicrously strict with its copy protection which is a real shame. I have often thought it would be great to have a massive library on the hard drive without swapping discs.
