am i dreaming but have i seen that we will be able to download movies directly onto the PS3 also renting movies or buying them soon for playstation store ??

The latest software update has the movie store on it. I downloaded an HD movie for rent last night.

Can you confirm what the format and quality was like? The description on the HD movies states that it is only in 2-channel stereo, which is disappointing. Is the picture in 1080p or the more likely 720p?
