PS3 not seeing refreshed data on NAS

Hi,

I picked one of these up last week:

NETGEAR Stora - NETGEAR.com

After usually either streaming from my PC (located in another room and connected via 200mbit Powerlines) or copying files to an external harddrive and then connecting to the PS3 I wanted something that would allow us to store files (photos, music, documents and videos) centrally and be accessed via any computer in our home.

Well, this works fine. However last night I noticed a problem: My PS3 is not seeing the changes to the files - when for example I go to videos > Stora:UPNP-AV > video > Folders > ... the system partially shows the status of the files early yesterday evening. Meaning it shows files that are not in that location anymore bit have been moved to a subfolder, so the issue is I cannot watch an avi that my computer can see without problems, but is not visible to the PS3. The files in the subfolder for example that were already there are fine - just the one I moved is not visible.

As the files look okay when accessing the NAS via PC I'm thinking it mst be the PS3. I just updated to the latest system version, have turned it off via power switch multiple times, have disconnected from network (cable) and even done fresh server searches.

No luck... it sees files I even moved today (from the PC onto the NAS) but some that I moved yesterday are just stuck.

Any ideas anyone?

How they're connected: I have an 8 port Gigabit Switch in the living room that the PS3 is plugged in to - connected to my music room via a Powerline adapter - in my music room another 8 port Gigabit Switch (same model as living room) that has the NAS connected to it.
(Just to show that a router restart won't help - did it anyway :o)

Thanks,

Simon

Re: PS3 not seeing refreshed data on NAS

How are you accessing on the PC? I would imagine you are selecting the folders in explorer rather than using the media server.

Twonky on my NAS has an option to set how often the media library is refreshed and also a manual option to rebuild the library immediately. Would imagine the media server software on yours has similar options and its this not the PS3 causing your issues.

Re: PS3 not seeing refreshed data on NAS

yes, I have transferred files across via explorer and access this way on the PC and laptops connecting to the NAS.

I'll see if I can find a function as you explained.

In the meantime I found a solution until the next time - I stopped the so-called DMA sharing and then re-shared again. Until it happens again I won't know if this was the cure as I trid different things.

Cheers,

Simon
