First time caller, long time listener ...
Is it possible to install and use PlayTV without the disc?
Long story ... I bought my first ps3 second hand a few months back mainly for movies and the odd game whilst hooked up to my projector, but it has firmly entrenched itself as the main media player down in the living room.
I was so impressed with the media streaming through Tversity and things like the iplayer and YoutubeXL that I bought a second machine with a disc fault (for £40!) to use purely as a media centre extender, and that's the machine I'd like to install Play TV on.
I though the simplest method would be to temporarily swap drives, install it, then swap back, but after getting the machines open I discovered they have different connections (one is a 40GB, the other an 80).
I've hunted for software or an ISO on the web both through playTV support and a few dodgy torrent sites, but nothing.
Right now I've installed playTV on the system with the drive and I'm formatting an old external HDD to FAT32 so I can run a system back-up and hopefully restore the back-up image to the disc-less drive and move the software that way ... but is there a simpler solution? (Other than getting a new laser for the broken one!)
Thanks.
