DVD (sd) region locked ?

I've seen a film her indoors likes but it is a region 1 standard DVD. Could it be played on my UK PS3 ? Ive looked, but most stuff pertains to BR being Region locked.

Thank you.

No. PS3 is locked to the region it is manafactured for. So in the UK this is Region 2. It's also region locked for Bluray.

It can't be unlocked.

Re: DVD (sd) region locked ?

But you could obviously rip the DVD and stream or copy it over to the PS3 for playback.

See the Media Guide, or indeed Uridium's signature for a linky

Thank you Axem, Uridium, I've the streaming down but wasnt aware shrink rips could be recognised, but i suppose through the PS3 MS it will. I did consider buying it to make a region free copy but i'll probably go ahead either way.
Its just the films relatively old and was a U.S TV film and never made it here.
Thanks again.

Yeah PS3 supports .H.264 Vob natively. Many think it doesn't but that's due to WMP11 not sharing files it doesn't natively support itself. WMP11 doesn't take into account what the DLNA client on the end will play.

So DVDShrink away and PS3MS will stream it as is with no transcode necessary
