Hi All,

Not sure where the best section for this is, but as its related to streaming to PS3 I thought its worth a shot here.

Previously, I would copy my dvds to my HDD in one VOB file, then rename that VOB to and MPG and it would then work streaming to PS3.

Now this is the fist time I have actually tried doing this in Windows 7, and for some reason even though I rename the file to have a .MPG/.MPEG extention, it doesnt register as a MPG or MPEG file as in the properties the file name shows as "xxxx.mpg.VOB"

Does anyone how if I am doing something wrong? Have I missed something here?

Advise would be greatly appreciated.

Explorer\Organise\folder and search options

View tab

uncheck 'hide extensions for known file types' box


or open a dos prompt and use the Ren command


By the way if you used some 'good' Streaming software (PS3 Media server ..see link in my sig) you can just stream the Vob's as they are without even having to rename.

PS3 fully supports Vob files natively. It's just WMP that won't stream them.
