| PS3 Media Server Stuttering with MKV
Hi all
Could do with a little help. I'm running Win 7 x64 Ultimate and amongst other things streaming HD video (both 720p & 1080p) to PS3 & 2x Xbox 360 which are in different rooms around the house (I only stream to 1 at a time)
From a fresh Win7 install I managed to get PS3 Media Server & Tversity both working fine with all formats (inc. MKV), however (foolishly) changed my codec pack from CCCP to Shark007 as I wanted to get things working nicely on Xbox through Media Centre (Media Browser/My Movies etc.) as well. Didn't thing Shark was that good and it gave some other issues, so I de-installed this and re-installed CCCP.
Problem is that Tversity will no longer transcode MKV, instead it crashes mediaserver.exe and PS3 Media Server will transcode MKV, however after a couple of minutes of streaming the bitrate goes through the roof (100+ Mbps) resulting in stuttering and an unwatchable movie. I've been through the settings and have restricted bandwidth to 30 Mbps, but it still exceeds this and it hasn't sorted out the problem. Other files (e.g. MKV2VOB converted ones) run fine on PS3 however I don't get audio when playing on Xbox for some reason.
I'm happy to convert all files through MKV2VOB as long as I can do it in a way that the Xbox will produce sound. Have tried all the different options (MPG, XVid, X264) when transcoding but none give sound through Xbox, but work fine with PS3 - go figure!?!?!
I'm running 200 Mbps Homeplugs instead of wireless and have a fairly beefy PC (Core 2 Quad 6600 with 4Gb ram), so network and PC shouldn't be the issue, in fact I know it's not as I've had it running fine beforehand. Can't help but think it's got to be related to codec settings in CCCP / FFDShow.
Can anyone help?
