Barry or anyone in the know!

Please can someone advise me on the above product, I have a Netgear Router with 4 inputs, all being used, if I get one of these can I use all 8 switches and the 3 remaining ones on the router?

I need extra inputs for another PS3, and now an Xbox.

Thanks

Yes you can just connect a Gigabit switch between your devices and router

Hi mate

Thanks for info

Just seen a Netgear FS608 8-Port Fast Ethernet Unmanaged Switch 10/100 Mbps for £25, think I will get it.

Should be ok for my Netgear DG834N router with Sonos, 2 x PS3's, Xbox, Nas, etc?

Cheers

Go for gigabit if you can. 10x faster.

The PS3 has a Gigabit NIC onboard and most recent PC's do.

Standard Cat5e is fine. No point in paying the extra for Cat6. Don't buy expensive branded ones or anything.

A normal switch is 10/100Mb. a gigabit switch is 1000Mb.

The FS608 is a 10/100Mb switch.

I use these switches. DGS-1005D/B - 5 Port Dlink DGS-1005D "Green" 10/100/1000 Mbps Desktop Gigabit Switching ports - Scan.co.uk
