AVS Video Converter... HD?

Hi,

I have Rambo IV on my P.C, 2 days ago I converted it to a Blu-Ray movie using AVS Video Converter. The orignal movie is 700MB, however after I had converted it to a Blu-Ray the new file is 16GB.

The quality of the new 16GB file wasn't really what I expected, infact it's about the same as the 700MB.

I'm really p***ed off with the picture quality of the new file, as it took 4 hours to convert it and then I had to split the movie into 3.9GB chunks. So I'm just wondering how their isn't a difference in the quality, but theirs a 15.3GB difference in the size of the files!

Re: AVS Video Converter... HD?

Once you compress a video file, thats it.
There is no going back to the original quality from the compressed file, and there is certainly no way of making that file better quality than the original which in this case i'm assuming is a dvd not a bluray.

What you are trying to do is impossible, its like me recording a song of the radio on to cassette and then assuming because i then put that song from the cassette onto a cd, the quality will some how magically become that of a cd bought from the shop, it just isn't going to happen.
And when you actually think about what your trying to do, you should realise that its a ridiculous idea.

Please don't take this the wrong way but is this a serious post or a wind up?

How on earth do you expect to run a heavily compressed 700mb Standard Definition video file through a piece of software and magically add in all the missing pixels to transform it into a 1080p High definition movie.

It just isn't going to happen. you CANNOT convert a 700mb AVI into a 'Bluray' movie.

Remember all Audio and Video compression is done by simply removing 'stuff'; once it's been removed it can't be added back.

Nah I don't reckon this is a wind up by zain. He's quite young so he may not about this sort of stuff.

not at all. god only knows why the new file is so huge. At a guess i'd say the app is doing some sort of 'padding' for no reason other than to make the file bigger and try to convince it's doing something useful
