Ive just bought the PX3's now on Play

I had problems with these Sony 7.1 dropping my wireless connection (the silly usb dongle) and these px3 wont do that im sure!

Both good headsets and i can always buy the earforce dss at a later date if i decide its needed

That's my line of thinking onezeon . I'd probably just try and pick up a 2nd hand dss in the future if one was going cheap .

It's the fact that the dss makes it a wired setup that puts me off and that was the appeal of the Sony , but the customisation of the px3 sounds pretty cool .

The dss doesn't make it wired tho?

I thought it connects to the hub box that's near ur ps3 and the headset itself is still totally wireless

If that's the case then I'd be quite keen to pick one up , just to compare the difference and see just how different it really is .

Think it's like the pic in this thread... Can't post pictures as on my phone atm

Ear force DSS + Logitech f540 wireless headphones

Think the set up is the same for the px3 and therefore wireless.
It best be :D

Sweet found this...

No.* The DSS connects to the transmitter--which still sends a wireless signal to the headset.* In other words, the DSS goes between the console and transmitter.
So the px3 will still be wireless... Phew :D

Can this headset be used on other devices than the PS3?
I would like to use it as well on my 5yr old Yamaha amplifier (via the dongle with USB port on the front panel) for music and movies playback and on my 2011 TOSHIBA Thrive tablet(straight via bluetooth or the USB dongle as the tablet has a FULL USB port) for music, movies playback but also NES and alike Emulator games happiness!!!!

I am not too much optimistic to be honest for both additional usages so I would appreciate to hear your views....

Doubt it would work on such an old amp, and also, the Tablet, it may work on, as they work on PC's, etc.

But everything other than the PS3 usage is going to be in stereo, so no real difference from a normal set of headphones, plugged into a 3.5mm jack, barring the mic.

Couldn't see myself sitting far enough from a tablet to warrant wireless headphones, really, and we have am Archos 10" tablet too, anything other than arms length reminds me of watching a 14" portable "back in the day" *shudders*

With the amp,you might be right although it has DLNA,HDMI etc,the dongle mght not be reckognized.I will post in the amp section of the forum to see if yamaha RX2700 owners got BT headset working on theirs.
the tablet runs android and I can get my PS3 controller to work via BT to play emulator games so there is a slight hope here....but as I have a JABRA BT125 who cant pair with my tablet,I am no so overly optimistic.

as per "remote" usage of the tablet, imagine you being fan of music listening at home but having a 4month old daughter, the tab + BT headset would come quite handy.sames applies when willing to watch movies with quiet output.

They aren't bluetooth, wireless only, they use the 2.4Ghz RF USB dongle.
Depends on whether or not your amp does audio out over usb, and like you say, if it's recognised.
Still much rather watch movies on the telly, rather than the tablet, and I've tried..just find the screen too small, mind you, watching telly in bed on my phone, when it's docked, is acceptable..weird..

Think it might be down to the holding/propping up of the tablet, more than anything else.

just shown my deep knowledge of this Headset design, why would there be a BT dongle as the PS3 has built BT.sorry if I sounded dull to say the least.
The Toshiba thrive is great at USB devices mounting, anything I plugged in worked at the exception of a 3G dongle, bit of a pity but I would blame my Phone operator for not willing to get sorted the Android driver for it.
again,if I get confirmation the amp works with FR USB dongle,I will give it this baby a try.

I guess the sound playback quality might also greatly depends on the distance to the dongle and layout of the house right?

Not too sure of the distance that these work at, as I guess most will sit within about 6-10 feet or so from their PS3's.

The sound on anything other than a PS3 for games, will be stereo, not too sure how they cut out, whether they just cut off, or whether you start to get stutering, etc when you reach their distance threshold.

Probably about that, or thereabouts, but never have had to test it.

Well, I've had these a couple of weeks and I have to say that it's made my whole Uncharted 3 online experience even better. I can't say that I've had any experience of other headsets but this one is comfortable, robust enough for a couple of hours a day and stylish.

Very pleased with this headset, like said before the virtual surround isn't amazing but I prefer that setting it gives at least a wide stereo experience. The wireless is great late at night, and PC set up was a doddle. As a note you can enable the function to hear your own chatter back on PC under microphone settings (win 7).

Got mine from Scan, they delivered the next day.

Have you tried putting the headphones on the opposite side? Left headphone to right ear and right headphone to left ear.
