Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview Thread

Great news Guru Vagus, thanks for the input. I think a point of contact would be a serious advantage to you guys in fixing the issues. Thousands of people will find bugs much quicker than a few as you've seen.

All i'd like is the online(including the time trial issue), the bit of frame stutter on certain tracks and an issue with the paintshop where the edit button stops working seeing to and that would in my mind make this a great product. I know others will disagree but it wouldnt be a forum if they didnt

I dont suppose you'll ever be releasing the full old nurburgring ring as DLC are u? i'd even consider paying for that one lol

Obviously, I can't answer specific questions about future content, because these things are embargoed, or haven't been set in stone yet. However, as said, I'll do my best to answer what I can.

So, the patch:

Yes, it is being worked on at present at Eutechnyx. They're not just any developer, but one that was hand picked by System 3 to create the best experience of driving a Ferrari possible. If there are issues, these almost certainly occur in situations that cannot be tested for. One major change recently, is new firmware becoming available for PlayStation 3, which could be a factor. I can't speak for Eutechnyx on if this is the case, or not, nor can I confirm what the actual causes of any problems are. What I can tell you, is that this is being worked on as I type, and is of paramount importance to System 3. IT WILL BE FIXED.

We're glad to know that most of you are happy with the game. Of course, some of you won't be, but these people are just as important as the people that love the game, because contructive feedback is always a good thing. System 3 is an indie publisher, so can move quicker to address any problems.

Forums:

We're aware that you all want somewhere to get in touch with us, and will have a solution as soon as possible. It could be tomorrow, or it could be next week, but we are working on this. Your voices should be heard, and will be.

Downloadable content:

We cannot comment on the content itself, or the price as yet, as these will be announced very shortly. There's a few things coming up that will really blow your mind. You know there's going to be new cars and tracks, and for now, that's all we can say. A little clue, though, is that the first track is an old favourite, and one that is going to set the online racetrack alight.

So, the fix will come, as will the DLC, and we'll organise this as fast as humanly possible. However, we're not going to rush through a patch that doesn't work. We'll test it - Sony will test it, and in the end you'll have an online experience like no other.

So, if you wish to contact me, again, please PM me. I'll try to answer what I can.

Kind regards,

Gareth
Thanks very much for updating us Gareth, it really is appreciated!

Not many devs would bother to come onto a forum like this to speak direct to gamers like ourselves and that does speak volumes .

I always try to be constructive and balanced in my criticism of any game and whilst I really like this title, I have pointed out any areas which I believe are not so good. Hopefully this thread in general will be of great help to you and your dev team.

Thanks for a great game and I look forward to the patch so that the online side can be properly enjoyed.

Cas

well if the patch works and it runs well online with no problems then this could be the saving grace, if not then people will really be upset if the patch isn't up to much.

Some of you have been real stars but there are some posts thats are purely based on guesswork and conjecture. For the record DLC has not been done at the expense of fixing the online functionality. Fixing the online function is our main priority atm along with other little fixes that have been requested.

I feel like keeping my mouth shut for fear of stirring the pot even further. Might be best for all of us. My next post will be regarding the online patch, thats it.

Rant over, sorry.
I firstly want to say to as stated a big sorry to you, and if it wasn't for you posting your inside information I'm sure this thread and the gaming press posts would have been a lot different, and I am extremely grateful for you info. I just wish the information came out officially, and thats what gets my goat not you. Is there a reason why there are no official forums or a official response? You have to remember Joe public who goes to Game would'nt be aware of coming here to find out whats going on.

I know some well respected graphic artists in the industry and some who have left, due to industry closed door antics especially towards artists but thats another topic.

This game easily has the potential to be the best PS3 racer and will sit on the top step wth GTP5 once its fixed, and it will sit on my shelf for sometime to. Unlike those that are already appearing on the trade-in at my local game shops.

I know your next post is the update on the patch, but did you work on the cars or particular cars as the models are spot on.

Again I apologise to you and those on this thread who have supported you from the beginning

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview Thread

well there is no TT's or online event for this game yet as the online is broken, if it gets fixed then we will be able to race online and have some fun.

Try this if your into competitions. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue: Time Trial Leaderboards thats if you have GT5 and play it.

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview Thread

Yeah, we need some kind of official forum. There's a lot of depth to this game. It'd be great to see a gallery mode added... My Jim Clark F430 is a thing of beauty!

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview Thread

Just been round Spa fro the 1st time and WOW...the cambers, bumps, turns....loved it & definitely a course I want to nail.

Really enjoying this game and my advice to anyone umming and ahhing is that this game is worth its money for the single player alone (imho).

I can see Ferrari Challenge becoming a bit of a cult classic...and do I hear mumbles of Monaco coming!??!

Apart from online issues already discussed, this game would have no doubt been a 10/10 if it had included:

- Variable weather
- Pitstops
- Variable Time (night/day races)

Regardless, it's there consuming all my free time and preventing me from doing things things that I should be doing.

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview Thread

Hello all…

Here’s the latest news on the patch that Eutechnyx are working on. It’s in the final stages of testing and should be ready for download, subject to Sony approval, in approximately 2 weeks. It will not only fix the on line issues but will include a myriad of other bug fixes. Additionally in direct response to suggestions made on these and other forums, extra features have been added.

Everyone at Eutechnyx is extremely sorry and disappointed that there have been issues with the game and they hope the soon to be released patch will allow everyone to enjoy Ferrari Challenge to it’s full….

The patch will include:
  • Fixes to the on line play
  • Force Feedback strength adjustment
  • On line Name Tag toggle On / Off
  • Selectable A.I. difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard, Dynamic)
  • Vinyl tool fixes including scaling issues and problems when a G25 is connected
  • Revised engine sound mixing in all camera views
  • TC / SC / ABS cheat fixed
  • Time Trial leader boards fixed
  • Improved A.I. racing including:
    • More intelligent defending of the inside line
    • Mid line defending on corner entry so as not to compromise entry and exit speeds as much
    • Grudge racing, where by if a player consistently rubs paint with an A.I. racer, they will respond appropriately
    • Improved defending tactics when trying to overtake on the straights
    • And a few more surprises..
Eutechnyx are keen for Ferrari Challenge to be known as one of the best racing games on the PS3 and are determined to support not only the game but the community in any way it can.

You can email the developers at mailto:ferrarichallenge@eutechnyx.com with any comments and suggestions.

It's also rumored that this will not be the last patch and Trophy Support could well be on the way...

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview Thread

Thanks PROGRAMER 2008 for the info.
With the patch we are getting everything we asked for and much more.
This is going to turn out to be the best racer on any system so far.
This news will change a lot of doubters views about the game.
Bad Robot get your projector warmed up for some serious racing.
I thought the game was very good apart from the online but with that patch it will be amazing.
It is also good to see devs from a company joining the forum to give us the info we need to support there game.
It makes me feel proud to be a geordie when i see a local dev team respond to gamers in such a positive way.

I like that news however i worry how long that may be, no-one seems in too much of a hurry to get trophys out and alot of gamers are gagging for a trophys fix, so i'd be getting that done quick smart nice sales boost.

Thank you very much!. With this I will be able to buy the game in two weeks, with the patch release.

But please, ProGamer2008: add the clutch for G25.
