I completed the Italian F430 Challenge tonight. Some of these circuits have lovely flowing fast corners that are sublime in this game.

I'll be starting the European F430 Challenge tomorrow evening and I seriously can't wait to get lapping around Silverstone and Spa. Yum yum!
The difficulty really ramped up for me in the Euro Challenge, but Spa is simply amazing! Also I really like Paul Ricard now (after not really being a fan of the track initially) and the final corners required some good managing of the weight transfer of the car via skillful braking! You can run wide on many of the corners, but the good thing is that (after trying many lines) the fastest route is actually staying on the track and hanving the confidence to take good speed into the corners. Braking is key on that track though and the line through Beausset & Bendor is vital to a fast lap. If you try to get through them too quickly then you will just run wide and lose traction on the exit.

Ah good stuff Ian, so that was you the other day. Indeed, seems a few of us on here enjoying this so we should be able to get some good games going once they fix it.

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview Thread

Have had a PM from Alanok and they are looking into the online problems. I've sent him a list of the problems that occur so hopefully they can find a solution to this problem.

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview Thread

First of all apologies for being quiet over the past few days. Combination of work and not wanting to bias any views you had on the game. Just wanted to see what the general consensus was and it seems like its generally postive with a few niggles. One of them being the online side. We are aware of the problem and its being fixed right now. Its not going to be an overnight thing and it will need to be tested again so we don't get the same situation, it will then be sent to Sony for approval. Bear with it, its being looked into.

It would really help us if you could jot down here quickly your experiences online. I see the overall problems are the host PS3 crashing when people join a game, chucked out of lobbies before game starts. Can you also list your connection speed and whether you are using headsets etc. Your help would be appreciated We know there are some that do not have the problems online but thats unacceptable so apologies. If you come across anybody else having the same problems let them know we're on it

As for DLC the first pack will shortly be released.

Apart from the online side its heartening to hear that some of you get what we are trying to do with the game and its philosophy on racing. The AI will bump you, it will race you. If it didn't I think we would be getting complaints of the opposite kind, that the AI were single minded and on rails, might as well have stuck with GT5 is what would have been screamed at us. Those with the game and their initial thoughts are not positive, i'd urge you to stick with the game and carry on for a few more races. If its not your cup of tea then fair enough, we can't win over everyone all the time. Just thanks for giving us a chance, its appreciated

I'll be back soon.

Well that's Spa unlocked now so i'm a happy bunny! What a game.

CASFAN, can't agree with you more, only had a couple of goes on SPA and SILVERSTONE and I have to say they are both the best representation of the tracks I have played.

I was one of those not too sure before the game came out but now i am completely won over.

Hi Dave,

Have added the 550M, which I got after winning Paul Ricard in the Euro Challenge. I think it's for the win, but it could have been for 2nd so can't be 100% sure. I came 3rd in the first race and wasn't awarded it so it's not for 3rd or any.

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview Thread

It's good to hear from you Alanok, it's even better that a representative from the developer is able to communicate and respond to some points raised here in this forum.

I haven't ventured online much yet, but i don't know if you will be addressing any of the other issues people have raised here, mainly the issue with the forcefeedback? will we be able to adjust this? are you looking to release a patch for such issues in the near future?

always nice to read your posts cas fan i would love to write what i think but the limits of my brain have dwindled over the years so i just tend to read yep smack on.
ALANOK cheers for coming back it must be hard reading some negative stuff on something youve worked a long time on but as you can see most people who have stuck at it realize they have a corker of a game on their hands .

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview Thread

Issues I have had online:

- Join a game 3/8, it takes a long time to get into the lobby and often presented with a blank box where the names etc meant to sit. You are left on this screen for 20-30 secs and either you get message "game is full" or if you press for eg the 'Standing' button while waiting the game will freeze requiring a hard reset of the console.

- When racing in game, lag is a real problem

- Please remove the speech bubbles that are players names or at least give us the option to remove them

- When in race when someone joins/leaves lobby/race the game freezes for split second or more.

- Can be sat in the lobby waiting for players and as players enter exit the game freezes requiring hard reset.

That's all that comes to mind right now Alan. Using UK 60GB console on 2.4fw, connected wireless with 10Mbps d/l speeds and oh I have forgotten my upload speed...will update later when back at home. I am using a headset but tbh usually when I enter the lobby my headset is off and will switch it on while in the lobby although problem(s) may occur on the 2nd time I have entered the lobby when the headset is already on so can't really shed any light on that variable but will keep it in mind from now on.
