What makes you a hardcore gamer?

This may be a little off-topic, but in the general consensus of gaming:

There are tons of people who claim they are hardcore when it comes to gaming, but few have ever had the chance to tell us what makes them a hardcore gamer. Here is your chance to tell me just that!

I think playing until 1/2/3am on a weeknight would count, and completing UC2 in one sitting (with a break for food) would also make me a "hardcore" gamer (and proud of it

Yeah I dont have it anymore, had it on my old Nokia. Will have to whack it on my new phone though

Yep - many a night. I think my record is 6am - it was light again

, although thinking about it that may have been a weekend. Regularly 2/3am on weeknights though. Wife thinks I'm crazy - she's probably right

Well i dont call myself a hardcore gamer, but i'd hesitate to add that you could call yourself one if you've ever played a casual game and hated it - either too easy, too simple from a game-design point, or too lazy w.r.t. development.

Completing a game without stopping... Check
Playing through the night on weekdays... Check
Taking a day of work when a new AAA game is out... Check
Stay in to play games rather than go clubbing... Check

And many more reasons i consider myself to be a hardcore gamer.

Id call anyone who invests alot of time in any game to be the best they can be even when theres no end in sight ie World of warcraft and other online mmo's as hardcore. For example folks that have been playing that since day one, spending hours apon hours of their life grinding for some ingame item. Me i dont see the point rather have something I can pick up and put down as I see fit and not be addicted to digital crack.

A hardcore gamer is someone with pretty much no life outside of games. So they stay in that world and try to forget about everything else.
