Re: Resident Evil 5 PS3 Reviews

It got off to a slow start, but I am absolutely loving RE5 so far. Very similar to RE4 in all the right ways, but with fresh environments and a sexy sidekick. Whats not to like?

I've heard several complaints; awkward controls, Sheva gets in the way, Sheva dies too easily, not 'horror' etc. Wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong again. The controls are the same as those that made RE4 a winner- if your'e not used to them, the fault lies with you. Sheva kicks ass and (for me) has only bought the farm one or twice. There is horror aplenty. God boss fights.

And the graphics are stupendous. Seriously realistic and lifelike- and easily on a par with Killzone 2.

Along with Dead Space and KZ2, RE5 completes a trilogy of sci-fi action classics.

Excellent- 9.

Re: Resident Evil 5 PS3 Reviews

It really is a superb game. I never played RE:4 so the complaint about 5 being a high definition version of 4 personally doesn't apply. It's all fresh to me and completely wonderful. The controls are absolutely fine. I can't see why people have difficulty with them, they're easy to master. Also, why would I want to run and gun? It would remove half the challenge, become far too easy, and not be so much fun. The graphics are awesome, the sound is fantastic, the weapons are cool, the boss fights are epic. Plus, there's plenty of replay value with the all the various Mercs modes, co-op fun, character unlocks, weapons upgrades, file unlocks, costume unlocks, Emblems, filter unlocks, and action figure unlocks (seriously, how cool are those 3D character models!).....brilliant, brilliant game.

Re: Resident Evil 5 PS3 Reviews

I am loving this game, great fan of Resident Evil, controls are similar to previous versions, so easy to get into. My only gripe is Sheva des come in the way at times, especially when opening/breaking objects, my knife as cut her a few times...oops and when shooting at enemies, she comes on the way of direct fire, I have to use the come on command to get her out of the way at times

You can set the game so Sheva doesn't react to your attacks or get hit by your knife. I thought that was the default setting, unless you turned it off for realism.

Re: Resident Evil 5 PS3 Reviews

I voted this a six based on two plays of the Demo.

This game is the biggest let down I have had since Ninja Gaiden 2.

RE4, NG1, Bully, and Scarface were my four favorite games last generation, and the squeals are just poor imitations of the earlier games.

I so much wanted to like RE5, but its just seems a backwards step over 4.

The graphics are nice, but the game play is not.

I will add it to my rental list and give it another shot. I feel after liking RE4 so much (I must have completed it something like 20+ times), I feel I need to give it another try out.

With respect, I don't think its fair to vote based on playing the demo. What exactly is your problem with the gameplay? it is perfect for me and many others.

What are you judging it on? You haven't experienced the story, the boss battles, the puzzles- anything! In a lot of ways it is a continuation of RE4, but why is that a bad thing? You dont always have to re-write the rules to make a good game.

In which case your vote doesn't really count for much. You're supposed to play the final retail game and base your review upon that and not the demo which more often then not does not represent the final game.

Re: Resident Evil 5 PS3 Reviews

Excellent game! Completed it on easy and am now going through normal with infinite ammo on the shotgun!

Can't find fault really and is definitely on par with RE4 imo. The demo was a big let down & I nearly gave it a miss because of that but I'm chuffed to bits I gave it a chance.

For those of you who loved Resi 4, I cannot recommend Resi 5 enough!!! Ignore the demo & give the full game one hours play, you'll probably find that you're on a journey to complete this time & time again!

Re: Resident Evil 5 PS3 Reviews

Voted a 7. Yeah harsh I know but read on lol......

I've played and finished all the previous RES games and RES 5 feels like RES 4.5 with upgraded graphics to me. All things considered it's a very very safe play by Capcom considering all the next-gen horsepower available by the jump to 360/PS3.

Now I have played the entire game in SYSTEM LINK co-op on the 360 :D (my mate won't make the jump to PS3 just yet so I went and got a cheap 360). Now you're prolly wondering why my review is here in the PS3 section, wellllll I feel at home here lol and I've already got my feet up...I ain't leaving.

Anyway here's the pro's of RES 5

+gorgeous looking game
+still has all the classic Capcom hallmarks of replayability
+still provokes those frantic "oh ****" moments
+still as addictive as ever, can't beat blowing up zombies

and the negatives

-incredibly predictable a.i, lack of variety of enemy attacks etc
-boring level design, far too linear and small/simplistic.
-co-op play too shallow, largely due to level design. You are never apart for too long, you are never pushed to your limits. I am surprised they didn't exploit this after making such a big deal of it.
-atmosphere, the fear factor is gone with a partner and none of the levels offer any unpredictable surprises..everything is signposted.
-story, written for 5 year olds. Not an ounce of originality anywhere.

Keep in mind all these cons are listed from the viewpoint of co-op play, I am not hamstrung by Sheva in anyway so all those A.I complaints do not bother me.

Some valid points there mate and I'm sure nobody cares about the 360 situation, tis after all a good system.

Anyway, I agree that you could have been stretched a little bit more and yes, the AI / Enemy bosses were very predictable but that aside, I cannot get over just how much fun I had. I gave it a 9 out of 10 and maybe I could have given it an 8 but then again, nah! I think it fully deserves a 9 from the experience I've had with it! I love the damn thing!

Might have to revisit RE4 lol!

Don't get me wrong, I've had loads of co-op fun with my mate. If I had never played res 4 this probably would have been an 8/9.

There is a play and help thread for questions like that. Please try and keep discussion to reviews of the game here.

Re: Resident Evil 5 PS3 Reviews

well i've now finished the game first time on normal, i've given this game a 8/10.

This game reminds me of a film END OF DAYS (arnie taking on the devil). the story is weak the acting is shocking, the visuals are okay, But i bloody love it and have watched it many times......

It is a lot of fun that has upwards of 30+ hrs of replay If you are a fan of resident evil. As you can go back and play through with the umlimted ammo weapons.(something i had a lot of fun with on re4)

Re: Resident Evil 5 PS3 Reviews

To be honest, I didn't know much about Resident Evil or all its series, games, etc..
My sister loves Resident Evil ! The first time I saw the demo I was like ok something I would watch instead cause of the story and damn CHRIS is one HOTT character!
I decided to try the demo after saying NO I will only watch it! Cause I figure it was those another shooters game..but hey I LOVED IT !! It was pretty fun!

Bought the game when it released and it was loads of fun ! Played it on Veteran LMAO hey its more challenging and you have to use strategies because you have LIMITED amount of amo and guns! CO OP split screen is the best! You can see what both players are doing and its always fun when you have someone next to you I hate playing games by myself! I LOVE the story I LOVE the graphics I LOVE the melee attacks I LOVE THE GAME !

I heard that RE4 was better and such than RE5 ...so I went to my friends house and tried it ...eh ? I guess that kind of game is not for me..controllers were hard to use and its single player and its not chaotic like RE5 LOL Leon is a cutie though ..

And I also LOVE the Merceneries Mode ! This game is awesome!

Re: Resident Evil 5 PS3 Reviews

Ok, first, I have never played any of the Resident Evil games so was not sure about this game. So I have written this post for people who might have been undecided like I was on whether to buy this game or not. Simple answer......BUY IT! I played the demo first and thought the game looked good but was not sure about the game play etc, but as other people have said, "Dont judge the game by the demo!" I bought the game more on the strength of the comments on this forum and they have been spot on IMO. Its a great game that has you gripped from the beginning. My only negatives are you might die too easily if like me you spend time staring at the sumptious scenery. The detail of the landscapes and towns are AWESOME! No detail seems to have been missed. So beware of zombies sneaking up behind you while you admire the view!!! My only other slight niggle is not been able to move while looking down the sight of the gun, other than that, "great fun" which even has my other half playing co-op with me and the fact we have to work as a team and not just nick all the ammo and treasures for ourselves is a great feature!

Take the plunge! Buy the game! You wont regret it!
