Siren: Blood Curse PS3 Reviews

I have started a thread for reviews here. It's going to be a public poll as all polls are required to be on these forums. Please don't rate the game until you have played it sufficiently enough to be in a position to give it a score. Remember all scores will be public so please keep that in mind. Thanks.

Re: Siren: Blood Curse PS3 Reviews

I'm near the end of episode 6 so feel that i've played enough to rate this. Personally i've been very impressed so far. The visuals are superb and really suit the mood of this game. The story and pace of the game is fantastic and has kept me gripped throughout. The controls work well on the whole (can be a little cumbersome from time to time but not really any more than other games of this ilk) and I like the way that you can play in TPS or FPS. The lighting and shadows are some of the best i've seen in a game as well.

The enemies (The Shibito) are suitibly scary and gross and taking them down with the various weapons in the game is great fun.

The best thing this game does though is create probably the best survival horror atmosphere in a game yet. The graphics, sound, effects and set scenes all go towards creating this and it is very impressive indeed! I also love the TV style presentation which leaves you with a good sense of achievement once you finish an episode and leaves you wanting more! I must have played a good 5-6 hours so far and would guess that this game is around 10-12 hours in length. When you consider that many full price titles do not offer that game length, then this is very good value at £19.99.

IMO this is an Outstanding Survival Horror title for anyone who's into this genre of gaming. 9/10

Re: Siren: Blood Curse PS3 Reviews

As interactive horror movies go its one of the best out there. As a game its pretty good at times and at worst clumsy. Fortunately just when your getting irritated by the control mechanics of one character the chapter (which are fortunately short mostly) ends switching to another character with different abilities/weapons.

The atmosphere is excellent as are the effects, the graphics are good but its the grainy film and affects which set the mood of the game. Its dark and creepy and the zombies (shibito??) are mostly pretty disturbing. REminiscent of silent hill sometimes.

I'm past chapter 7 and really only dip in and out a couple of time a week. Its quite unique game experience for me as it really does feel like a tv serial with prologues and epilogues just like an episode of lost or heroes. I cant sit down for hours playing it but i guess the designers made it episodic for that very reason, hmm may be i was harsh giving it a 6. The 6 was just my gut instinct but to give the developers credit for creating something quite unique i should really add a point or two. 7.5 then.

Another anonymous 1/10 i see
