Guitar Hero III PS3 Reviews

Please! As a courtesy to others; avoid posting any spoilers in your reviews.

A 10 should only be given for a landmark game that sets new rules, a 9 for a truly excellent game without flaw, and an average game that does things right but nothing special should get a 5 (not a 7 or 8 like some would have you believe).

Re: Review : Guitar Hero III

I got it as an early Xmas Present from my Brother.

I'm enjoying a couple of things.
  • New way to play (for me) - Guitar
  • You don't just play in time. When you play a note it continues the 'song'. If you don't play you miss part of the song.
  • When you play a bum note, it plays a bum note
  • Loads of songs
  • Downloadable content
  • Different levels of hardness
  • A 'story' as opposed to the 'singstar' just keep singing/playing.

I would have given it a 9 but I feel that although the all the above is amazing (to me) I realise that if you've played played the other GH's then it isn't as 'landmark' as it is to me.

Re: Review : Guitar Hero III

What the "genre" is I am not sure but I expect I and II also defined it. Nevertheless when I play it, I am a rock star. It feels like Karaoke that's going well, it's very humourus and "rock star", I love the songs, opening up encores and gettign a song I know and love it's just so much fun. COD is dead, long live GH III!

And - my girlfriend likes it and plays it too. Positive - we can do it together. Negative - she still doesn't like COD.

Re: Guitar Hero III PS3 Reviews

Digging this one out of the depths again!

Surprised it hasnt got more reviews.

Even though the genre (in this format) is a little tired now, playing good music can never get old and GH3 does it as well as any.

Some of the songs maybe over-charted (compared to RockBand say), but its still fun and I like the way they've added in cutscenes and the story mode.

The leaderboards are integrated well and I like the linking with the GH3 website. I'll have to try out multiplayer some time soon.

Overall, I gave it a 9 as there really isnt much wrong with this as it is. GH4 will surpass it, just as RockBand did, but as a standalone game - single or multiplayer, its just superb.
