| Re: Lair PS3 Reviews
I picked up Lair cheap a couple of months ago, knowing that they'd patched the controls & you didn't have to use Sixaxis.
Graphically it's old, & it shows in the textures. It's not that it's terrible, but when you compare it to most other PS3 games it looks muddy. The cutscenes are alright though.
I enjoyed the game quite a bit initially, & apart from the odd "noticeable" framerate glitch it's actually quite fun for a while.
The problem with Lair is that your basically playing a 3rd person flight sim with no radar, & the further you get into the game the more you realise you have no idea what you're supposed to be doing. There is an arrow at the top of the screen that's supposed to point you in the right direction, but later on in the game it disappears at random & seems to change it's mind about what's important before you know where you were supposed to be heading. The game makes no attempt to highlight your objectives. As it's a fantasy world, a lot of the time the verbal cues you get about your objectives give no indication what you should be looking for, or what it looks like.
I've given up on the game due to trying the same level 5 times & still not having the foggiest idea what I'm supposed to be doing, & after 10 minutes of flying around aimlessly until I die it gets tiresome. I may check t'internet for a walkthrough & go back to it at somepoint, but I'm going to have to be really bored before I do.
