Just Cause 2 - Preview Thread

IGN: Just Cause 2 Preview

The first game wasn't recieved very well but I really liked it. If you have never heard of Just Cause it's pretty much Uncharted meets GTA. If they get it right this will be a brill game!

I also liked the first one - it did get a bit repetative but i really enjoyed the open feel to it. It was one of those games where you could easliy lose a couple of hours achieving precisely nothing but having fun along the way.

If there is a bit more variety in the sequel then i'm in

Re: Just Cause 2 - Preview Thread

I also really enjoyed the first, I don't remember much about it though, apart from the fact that it was huge! I've seen a preview with one of the creators of the game and he said that they took the repetivity of the first on board and have introduced more varied side missions and a few other things, the environments look brilliant too, there's a lot of variety there!

That's what I love about the sandbox genre, you can just mess about and enjoy the game, and in the worlds they're creating these days it sure pretty damn impressive. GTAIV is a masterpiece imo, the game world is so realistic. I really liked the tropical feel of Just Cause and the fact you can take to the sky was awesome. Gameplay was alright but nothing special. I didn't realise this was going to be cross platform, not that I've been paying attention right enough.

Re: Just Cause 2 - Preview Thread

If it's anything like the first one i'd be bored within an hour. Ok it's huge, but there is nothing to do in that big space that you couldn't do in a smaller area.... I felt a bit the same with GTA 4, you have this great big city, but you can't go in any buildings or anything.....

Explore, do missions, create havoc, have fun.

The whole reason I love sandbox games is becuase I can go pretty much wherever I want and do whatever I want. I love driving in GTA and Crackdown, scaling buildings in crackdown. The best part about Just Cause for me was the tropical setting, all the gameplay elements just add to the experience.

If you want to enter buildings for some reason then I'd imaging you'd be better off with an RPG due to the looting elements, that's not what sandbox games are about.

Re: Just Cause 2 - Preview Thread

I've also seen a video interview where some annoying guy asked some questions about just cause 2 fairly early in its development. Anyway, he was interviewing one of the chief people and what he was saying suggested very strongly (he actually said this bluntly too) that they took the feedback from the first game very seriously and tried to improve upon everything that was commented on, they've included more varied missions, made free play more 'playable' and varied the landscape more, that's just off the top of my head, they've also obviously introduced the grapple much more and put in more vehicles etc...

The above comment is very valid though, although GTA IV isn't really a traditional sandbox game

Well, it's an odd one, it is a sandbox game in its techical meaning, but GTA is very much focused around the story, more so than most sandbox games. It's an odd one and, to be honest, it depends on what kind of gamers you talk to etc...as to whether you really class it as a sandbox game

I'm not quite sure what you mean. I personally don't think making a compelling story makes a sandbox game any less fitting of that genre.

It's set in a sandbox game world so it's a sandbox game I say. Can't see how it's any gifferent from Just Cause, Crackdown or even the other GTA's.

Just noticed that on Shopto.net they have the limited version and the standard version for the same price £36.85

For anyone interested in what you get in the 'Limited Edition' version:

Just Cause 2 Limited Edition

In the Limited Edition you will receive the “Black Market Chaos Pack” containing five must-have downloadable guns and gadgets, experimental and heavily upgraded items from the Agency’s research and development division, and a fold-out Panauan Intel Map, packed with information and hotspots for causing chaos and destruction.

With more stunts, vehicles and weapons than ever before and an incredible overhauled grappling hook, Rico returns to action in Panau, an incredibly detailed and vast 1000 sq km game world of different climates and ultra-realistic weather effects. Leap from your plane and skydive from 10,000 feet down into a tropical jungle, tear across an arid desert in a dune buggy or climb your way up a snowy mountain in a 4x4. The vast open-ended, unique gameplay is back, allowing you full freedom once again to free roam and explore the massive world of Panau and tackle your assignments however you want.

You know it, I have pre-ordered Just Cause 2, M.A.G and on PC Battlefield Bad Company 2. £102 from Game but do get £15.00 worth of vouchers as ordered at same time and all have x2 reward points so about £5.00 will be added to my card.

Expensive but well worth it!!

I loved the first one. Despite the fact that most of the levels were a bit samey, the island were great fun to navigate with helicopters and speed boats. Really looking forward to this.

I am surprised that there isn't much talk of this... It looks amazing... As much as I think it won't be, it just looks too good to be true..

The latest trailers are just brilliant:

Just Cause 2 Gravity Trailer « TheSixthAxis – PS3 and Xbox 360 News, Trophies And Opinion

Just Cause 2 Freedom and Chaos « TheSixthAxis – PS3 and Xbox 360 News, Trophies And Opinion

If it plays as good as it looks, its going to be a lot of fun...

Jon

Certainly a favourite from the reviewers, which worries me as the last game to receive fantastic reviews, excellent video previews was NFS Shift - and we all know how that turned out.

I learned my lesson on that, with this i will wait for you guys to give your hand on played for a while review
