Is streets of rage the one where you called in the police (or someone) to fire missiles from the start of the level?

If it is i used to love that game and will be a must buy!!!

I'll pick this up if the graphics will be ok, some of the ps2 games look dreadful on my 50inch screen.

Great stuff.. Pre-ordered from Play!!

Am I correct in thinking that Play.com won't take the money out of my account until they've got the stock?

Re: Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection - Preview Thread

I saw something similar to this in HMV yesterday, it's a portable megadrive, i bit like a psp (obvioulsly not as good) and had 8 games iirc included, such as alex the kidd and eco and was priced at £25. I think i'll get the ultimate collection as i wasted my youth on a megadrive!

Re: Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection - Preview Thread

This is Sega Collection no. 235 over the past few years but if it's in decent 720p widescreen then it's welcome - especially since it has the three original Shining RPGs Still no sign of Eternal Champions though It would also be nice to get some of the cool 3rd party MegaDrive games like Another World, Flashback, Toejam & Earl, Aladdin etc although there are probably licensing problems there.

Toejam And Earl was published by Sega as was Aladdin.

Toejam and Earl is already on the Wii's Virtual Console so if Sega has all the licensing rights to the game its omission from this new compilation is even more disappointing.

Since we don't know what the original licensing and publishing agreement was we can't assume that Sega definitely has no rights to publish the original game again.

Re: Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection - Preview Thread

I won't be buying this, but only because I once went back and played one of my favourite childhood games and it sucked, my memory of it was a thing of beauty and by going back and replaying it I have sullied the memory for ever.

It was solomon's key on the NES by the way.

I agree to a certain extent but different genres stand up in different ways. Graphics play a big part too I'd say. The original 2 Sonic's for example still stand out as some of the best 2d platformers to this day (IMO) and if they are brushed up well in 720p......

Streets of Rage 2 is surprisingly still good for a blast too. I just wish someone picked up some of the older Konami & Data East arcades like RoboCop/Sly Spy/Turtles/Simpsons even tho they are all pretty basic games they are still pretty good fun to play

See this is in stock at play now. The better half has expressed an interest as she loves the original sonic games, has anyone bought this and can recommend it?

Yes mate, vey good for the nostalgic point of view. I'm loving the old sonic games

I was a bit annoyed at first as the screen defaults to 4:3 and didn't think you can change it. But you can in the menu, and turn smoothing on, which works a treat!!
