If it comes out in europe i'll be getting this day 1(missed the ps2 versions)

I think this is the way BC for PS3 will be for PS2 titles in the future, the big AAA titles will be remastered like this and sold.

That would be great.

Looking forward to these, didn't get round to playing them on the PS2 so this should get me up to speed with the story before the third one hits.

It would be cool if the collector's edition of GOWIII came with the previous GOWs as well. Then it we all be in one nice package.

Looks like the graphics might be improved over the PS2 versions. Trophy support aswell.

Quote:
Scheduled for release this holiday season, God of War Collection will feature reworked versions of both God of War® and God of War® II on a single Blu-ray Disc™ at full 1280 x 720 resolution. Both critically acclaimed games, which were originally developed for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, have been remastered with anti-aliased graphics running at 60 frames per second for a smooth gameplay experience on the PS3 system. Additionally, the Blu-ray Disc compilation will bring PlayStation®Network (PSN) trophy support to the franchise for the first time (included for both games). God of War Collection offers substantial value to PS3 consumers, the compilation of both best-selling games costing just $39.99 MSRP.

lol well I have my GCSEs next year so I'll have to resist buying any games (sadly) till after May at which point hopefully GOWIII will be out (as well as many other games i am greatly anticipating e.g GT5, Uncharted 2, M.A.G etc) and if a CE edition were to come out including both previous GOWs, I will may as well get that.

Re: God of war collection: xmas 09 (US)

hmm i wonder with it being on a blu-ray disc and a remaster will it be seen as a PS3 title if that's the case then we can import rather than wait for a Euro release which knowing Sony Europe wont come for ages, certainly not this year.

I'd assumed so, but having thought about it, it may not be. Oh........the agonising wait.....

Tell me about it!! I remember sneeking off for cheeky games of Kick Off 2 on the Amiga during my revision periods for my GCSE's .

This is a nailed on purchase for me as well. Only played the first and for some strange reason I have never finished it . It's still sat in my DVD rack as we speak...

Actually I lied..it's here...

Hmm tempted to wack it on later . No more playing it without digging my old PS2 out after today though as for some reason i'm exchanging my superb 60gb for a slim .

Good job there's this collection to look forward to innit!

Re: God of war collection: xmas 09 (US)

My only God of War expose is to the PSP game Chains of Olympus. I'm excited about this, day one purchase or import if we don't get it this year.

I read a 360 fanboy rant somewhere last week that GODII only sold 2.5 million copies on the PS2 and that's with 110+ million install base so how does anyone expect GODIII to be that popular.

Don't know if those numbers are correct but they did surprise me.

Until May? Consider yourself lucky, my GCSE exams finish in July
But yeah, a package containing all 3 games would be awesome

Re: God of war collection: xmas 09 (US)

it seems sony has been listening as this was part of a survey that sony did for god of war 3. it asked what you would like to see most..... i put this!

although it would be even better to include the PSP version! i'm still hoping that the make PSP games playable on the PS3, especially as downloading the onto the PS3 for transfer to the PSPgo will be the main way people use it.

Don't know if those numbers are correct but they did surprise me.
That figure is correct and GoW only sold 3.2 million. Those type of games are really more a hardcore gamers game and whilst they are exceptionally popular amongst gamers, they don't really sell to the masses. Still 2-4 million selling games are still good successes and there are not many that sell much more than 4 million.

Install bases are also confusing as (at a guess) i'd say there would only be around 20 million PS2's in use when GoW2 was released (which was in March 07, over a year after the 360 was launched and the same month the PS3 was launched). A large amount of the PS2's sold would have failed my then, many others would just be boxed up, many would have been slims bought to replace older ones and many would have been bought as singstar, buzz, guitar hero etc. packs and used for little else.

Also, if you think how big the Gears of War games are, the amount of hype that surrounded them etc. and they only sold 5.9 million (Gears) and 5.1 million (Gears 2). It also shows how much affect the apparant user base has as Gears sold 800k more with a user base half the size!

There's not many games that will exceed the 10 million sales line this generation. I ignore Wii Sports (with it's 47 million) straight off as it's bundled with all (or at least nearly all) Wii's. Wii Play (with it's 24 million) is also a very dodgy one as really people bought a Wiimote and got Wii Play free, people weren't generally buying it for the game.

The first massive selling game IMO is Mario Kart Wii, which has sold an amazing 17.1 million!

Halo 3 has sold bang on 10 million and is the best selling 360 title.

I see GT5 selling over 10 million but don't see any other PS3 or 360 titles exceeding that amount. It will be interesting to see how Halo ODST and Reach do, but I don't see them doing as well as Halo 3 which was the much anticipated end to the story.

Yes, yes yes, Can't wait.

Gow 1 and 2 are 2 of my most highly rated games.

I've been waiting for Gow3 since I bought my ps3 2 years ago.

If this isn't released in the UK, will a US version work on my 80gb pal ps3?
